The Opportunity
Your Impact Starts Here - Co-op Student, Air Quality and Greenhouse Gas
In this co-op role, you'll join our Air Quality and Greenhouse Gas and will work closely with scientists and engineers within multi-disciplinary teams on air quality projects involving ambient air monitoring, air permitting, preparation of air contaminant and greenhouse gas emission inventories, and other aspects of air quality management.
Your Impact
In this role, you will:
- Assist with compiling air quality and meteorological data, statistical analyses, interpretation, and reporting;
- Assist with the preparation of management plans for nuisance dust or odour;
- Estimate air contaminant and greenhouse gas emissions from industrial facilities, mining operations, infrastructure projects;
- Assist with air dispersion modelling;
- Assist with preparation of technical reports; and
- Depending on the project, you may participate in field work, including the recovery of ambient air samples, operation and maintenance of air quality instruments.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- You are currently enrolled in a university program such as Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or a related field, and will be returning to school after the work term.
- You have a strong interest in environmental topics such as air quality, climate, and sustainability, and are eager to see how these concepts are applied on real projects.
- You are comfortable working with data in tools like Excel (and/or other software used in your coursework) and are willing to learn new tools and methods on the job.
- You enjoy working with others, asking questions, and contributing your ideas in a collaborative team environment.
- You are organized, curious, and ready to take initiative on tasks, whether they're analytical, documentation-focused, or coordination-related.
- An understanding of atmospheric science, chemistry, and air pollution control technologies, preferably with some experience preparing emission inventories, and dispersion modelling will be considered a strong asset.
- Previous co-op or internship experience in environmental consulting, air quality, or a related field is preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
- You are legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the co-op term.

Compensation:
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $24.00 - 32.25
MB & ON: $22.50 - 30.25
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $21.50 - 30.25
