We are Visioneers. We are WSP.
The Opportunity
Innovate and Lead - Step into a role where your expertise in numerical modeling and rock mechanics will shape the future of underground infrastructure and geotechnical design. You'll lead advanced simulations that inform excavation strategies, stability assessments, and risk evaluations across mining and civil sectors. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor the next generation of modelers while pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Your Impact
- Lead the development and calibration of 2D and 3D numerical models using finite element, finite difference, and distinct element methods.
- Deliver geomechanical insights that guide excavation design, ground support strategies, and stability evaluations.
- Integrate geological and structural data into simulations to enhance model accuracy and reliability.
- Evaluate modeling approaches, limitations, and uncertainties to support informed decision-making.
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff, fostering technical growth and innovation in modeling practices.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Hold an advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Rock Mechanics, Mining, or Computational Modeling.
- Bring 6+ years of hands-on experience applying numerical models to complex ground conditions in mining or civil projects.
- Proficient in FLAC3D, 3DEC, UDEC, RS2/RS3, or similar modeling software.
- Skilled in continuum and discontinuum mechanics, with a passion for solving real-world geotechnical challenges.
- Experience with probabilistic modeling, geological uncertainty, and scripting tools like Python or Fish is a plus.
- Known for thought leadership through publications, technical presentations, or innovative modeling approaches.
