Shape Something Different - Join our team as a Geotechnical Field Technician based in Mississauga, Ontario (with flexibility on location). This role offers hands-on experience in geotechnical fieldwork, supporting mining, infrastructure, and environmental projects. Compensation
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $57,500 - $76,200
MB & ON: $52,500 - $72,300
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $52,000 - $69,000

The Opportunity
Shape Something Different - Join our team as a Geotechnical Field Technician based in Mississauga, Ontario (with flexibility on location). This role offers hands-on experience in geotechnical fieldwork, supporting mining, infrastructure, and environmental projects. You'll work alongside industry experts and gain exposure to advanced techniques and tools while contributing to projects that shape communities across Canada.
Your Impact
- Provide technical services in field environments for geotechnical and mining projects.
- Conduct subsurface investigations, supervise drill rigs and excavators, and log soil and rock boreholes.
- Perform construction site inspections and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Utilize specialized survey equipment such as cavity scanners, sonar, drones, and surface tools.
- Collect and analyze soil, rock, and groundwater samples; prepare detailed site sketches and reports.
- Support rock stress measurements, blast and vibration monitoring, and ground support installation.
- Summarize findings for technical reports and assist with office-based tasks as required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative solutions.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- College diploma in Civil, Construction, Mining, or Geology Technology (focus on Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
- Candidates with relevant drilling experience will be considered even without a diploma.
- Previous experience as a geotechnical or mining technician is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations; off-road driving experience is an asset.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions, including remote northern sites.
- Physically fit to safely lift equipment (minimum 15 kg).
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic field environments.
