Our Property Tax group, within the Indirect Tax practice, is a leader in the global commercial real estate (CRE) industry. Our dedicated team focuses on helping clients optimize cash flow and mitigate risk by addressing the intricacies of property assessment and taxation. You will play a key role in supporting our clients in relation to both regional and national projects, as well as value-added tax projects associated with property assessment and taxation. Your expertise will be called upon to critically review and evaluate property tax appeal positions, offering informed recommendations and adeptly managing the appeal process in accordance with the firm's rigorous policies, standards, and guidelines. As a Property Tax Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. You will lead in delivering strategic property tax advisory services, ensuring clients navigate the complexities of tax obligations with expertise. You will also manage client relationships, oversee appeal processes, and conduct in-depth research and analysis to provide innovative solutions. Your role is not just about analysis; it's about being a part of a team that delivers customized tax strategies within a complex and dynamic regulatory framework. In this role, you will monitor market trends and legislative changes, ensuring our clients are well-informed and can maximize tax recovery potential through all available programs and incentives.

As a Property Tax Senior Manager , you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
• Lead complex property tax valuation appeals and conduct in-depth market research to support valuation positions, ensuring accurate and favorable outcomes for clients
• Mentor, develop, and build competency within the team, guiding staff through intricate valuation projects and providing expert advice to enhance their skills and insights
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships by delivering meaningful value, strategic advice, and impactful reporting to help clients manage their property portfolios, ensuring trust and ongoing engagement
• Evaluate properties and provide advanced property tax consulting services, coordinating with diverse stakeholders throughout the property tax cycle - from initial planning and consultation to representing clients in assessment tribunal hearings
• Oversee annual property tax budgeting and compliance for client portfolios, ensuring timely tax payments, accurate forecasting, and effective management of appeal deadlines
• Engage in networking and business development initiatives, leveraging industry connections to secure client referrals and identify new opportunities for service expansion
• Manage regional client engagements, taking ownership of client service delivery in your geographic area and ensuring high satisfaction across all accounts under your oversight
• Contribute to national practice growth by collaborating with colleagues across Canada on business development efforts, sharing best practices, and helping to innovate our service offerings on a broader scale
Experience and skills you'll use to solve
• Established experience with a focus on property assessment valuation practices, property tax consulting, and advisory services
• A post-secondary degree (or equivalent work experience) in real property valuation, property assessment, real estate, urban studies, economics, finance, or law is preferred
• Completion of a Real Property Assessment Certificate or an equivalent professional designation is highly valued. Relevant credentials include MIMA, AACI, CAE, MRICS, or FRICS
• Strong leadership and people management skills, evidenced by experience in guiding teams, developing talent, and building strong collaborative relationships
• Exceptional analytical and research capabilities to tackle complex valuation and tax issues, with a track record of conducting thorough property valuations and data-driven analyses
• Effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills, with experience leading settlement discussions and successfully resolving valuation conflicts with tax authorities
• In-depth understanding of property assessment legislation and tax regulations, enabling you to navigate and interpret the rules across multiple jurisdictions and advise clients accordingly
• Familiarity with standard valuation methodologies and property tax principles, coupled with the ability to translate these into practical solutions and appeal arguments
• Entrepreneurial drive with a focus on practice growth and operational improvement, actively seeking ways to broaden our client base and streamline processes
• Highly collaborative approach, working closely with team members across Canada

The salary range for this position is $128,900 - $178,900.The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range forPwC locations in major city centres . Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may have opportunities toparticipatein variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements.
