You will support other intermediates and senior consultants to water-related technical solutions and designs and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects both locally, regionally, and internationally.

A day in the life:
  • You'll work with interdisciplinary project teams that offer highly complex work, a chance to challenge yourself and what you've learned so far and an opportunity push your skills to the next level with some of the best in the industry.
  • You'll work with intermediate and/or senior engineers to provide technical services related to mine water resources engineering.
  • You use your knowledge and contribute to the following: hydrologic assessments, water balances, dam breach analysis, flood mitigation, river engineering, hydraulic infrastructure analysis, options assessments, hydraulic and streamflow evaluations, and design of water diversions and control structures.
  • You will help plan and carry out hydrological field programs at both local and remote locations.
  • You will develop inputs to hydrological and hydraulic models to support assessments and design as well as compile, organize, and analyse field data.
  • You will be part of multi-disciplinary teams that collaborate across Canada and globally.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent education) in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
  • An academic or applied understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and field analysis techniques such as streamflow measurements.
  • Commitment to working towards your successful professional designation in ON when eligible.
  • An unrestricted full Class G Driver's License (or equivalent) that is valid in the province of Ontario, a clean Driver's Abstract and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite of products.
  • Comfort in the operation of off-road vehicles (trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles), and traveling in small aircraft and helicopters.
  • You are comfortable working on active mine sites and know that you need to hold safety paramount.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have a strong ability to learn new systems and skills independently.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling is an asset.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and GIS mapping software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of mine water management is an asset.
  • Fluency in other languages, such as French and Spanish, is an asset.
