The Opportunity
Innovate and Lead - In this senior leadership role, you'll shape the commercial and risk strategy for WSP Canada's Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) Sector. Based in Ontario or Québec (other Canadian locations considered), you'll lead initiatives dedicated to operations, governance, growth, opportunities identification and risk mitigation, and commercial and risk excellence across ERI. Your expertise will influence decisions that drive success for some of Canada's most complex and impactful projects.
Your Impact
- Lead ERI Sector's commercial and risk team, resources and budget, ensuring governance and strategy are applied across all project phases-from opportunity selection to close-out.
- Represent the WSP Canada Commercial & Risk team within ERI leadership, driving alignment and strategic priorities.
- Within ERI, ensure alignment and consistency with WSP Canada's commercial and risk governance, positions and strategy.
- Participate in major bids preparation and negotiations for major partnerships, agreements and projects, acting as lead when required to secure favourable outcomes.
- Lead bid reviews for major projects and support escalated approvals, ensuring compliance, identification of opportunities and risk mitigation.
- Establish and track KPIs to support project teams in achieving commercial and risk objectives.
- Monitor commercial and risk performance on major projects, addressing scope, schedule, and budget changes and impacts, and involvement in interactions with client, partner, and supply chain relationships.
- Provide data, analytics and reporting on ERI's bid and project metrics to inform strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with Project Delivery, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and other key functions to ensure integrated solutions.
- Develop and deliver training on commercial principles, governance, and best practices.
- Contribute to WSP Canada's Commercial Network and act as delegate for the Senior Vice President, Commercial & Risk when needed.
- Professional designation in Engineering (P.Eng.), Finance, Legal or equivalent, combined with 15+ years of industry experience in commercial and risk management for major engineering and construction projects.
- Knowledge and experience in the power, energy, resources, industrial, nuclear and mining industries.
- Leadership skills and experience managing resources.
- Proven track record in opportunity selection, partnering, proposals, contracts, negotiation, project change management, documentation and claims management.
- Deep understanding of engineering operations, RFPs, RFQs, proposals and of large projects delivery, performance, financials, governance, and risk allocation for large, complex projects.
- Expertise in major projects alternative delivery models (PPPs, Collaborative models, Alliancing, Progressive DB, PDP, EPCM, EPC, etc.) and partnering strategies.
- Strong business acumen and ability to navigate complex organizational structures to build strategic partnerships.
- Advanced conflict resolution, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with experience mediating issues and achieving consensus.
- Bilingual (French/English) required to support national collaboration and client engagement.

MB & ON: $167,200 - $233,400
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $165,500 - $222,900
