The Opportunity
Shape the World Around You - As a Senior Ecologist, you'll play a pivotal role in guiding environmental approvals and ecological strategies for projects that shape communities across Ontario. From land development to energy and mining, your expertise will help deliver sustainable solutions that matter.
Your Impact
- Manage projects from start to finish, including client engagement, proposal development, agency consultation, and financial oversight.
- Design and implement programs to assess Species at Risk (SAR), natural heritage features, and other environmental considerations.
- Lead ecological surveys in your area of specialization-wildlife, terrestrial, or aquatic ecology.
- Oversee quality assurance for field data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Prepare and review environmental documentation, including EIS, EA reports, and ecological monitoring plans.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior and intermediate ecologists.
- Interpret environmental policies and legislation, ensuring compliance with ESA, MBCA, PPS, and related frameworks.
- Deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining WSP's high standards for health and safety.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of consulting experience with a strong background in Ontario ecosystems.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and client relationships.
- Expertise in ecological surveys and protocols, with knowledge of SAR requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental legislation and permitting processes (ESA, Fisheries Act, PPS).
- Additional assets: ELC and OWES training, arborist or BHA certification.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle.

Compensation
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $110,600 - $146,500
MB & ON: $100,900 - $139,000
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $99,900 - $132,700
