The Opportunity
Shape Something Different - As an Archaeological Field Director, you'll lead projects that uncover and preserve cultural heritage across Ontario. From surveys and excavations to artifact analysis, your expertise will help ensure compliance and deliver meaningful insights that connect communities to their history.
Your Impact
- Oversee and lead archaeological fieldwork projects, including surveys, excavations, and data collection.
- Motivate and guide field teams to deliver high-quality work efficiently and safely.
- Identify and classify artifacts in the field for both Indigenous and Euro-Canadian assemblages.
- Supervise and mentor field technicians, fostering growth and technical excellence.
- Assist in preparing archaeological reports and proposals that meet regulatory standards.
- Promote health and safety practices in all aspects of fieldwork.
- Coordinate with project managers, stakeholders, and Indigenous communities to meet timelines and objectives.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology or a related discipline.
- Professional License in good standing from the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism to conduct archaeological fieldwork.
- Strong understanding of Ontario's Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Field Director preferred.
- Familiarity with digital data collection tools (Field Maps/Collector, ArcGIS).
- Experience with Indigenous engagement and regulatory compliance.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites; overnight stays may be required.

Compensation
BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $69,700 - $92,300
MB & ON: $63,600 - $87,500
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $62,900 - $83,600
