The Opportunity

Compensation:
Zone 1 - AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT ($135,200 - $179,100)
Zone 2 - MB & ON ($123,300 - $169,800)
Zone 3 - NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC ($114,900 - $154,800)

In this role, you'll apply your mechanical and electrical engineering leadership to complex, multidisciplinary projects, making a real impact where it matters most.
Reporting to the Director, Building M&E Transportation, you will lead a well-established team of mechanical and electrical professionals, combining hands-on technical design with strong people leadership, project delivery, and business performance accountability.
Your Impact
- Lead and manage a well-established mechanical and electrical engineering team, ensuring excellence in technical delivery, resourcing, financial performance, and design quality.
- Own sales and profitability targets for your portfolio, monitoring performance and taking proactive action to meet or exceed established goals.
- Provide day-to-day people leadership including work planning, coaching, staff goal setting, and completing mid-year and year-end performance reviews.
- Act as a hands-on manager-engineer, with deep involvement in project design and implementation from proposal stage through detailed design, construction, and post-construction phases.
- Manage and deliver complex infrastructure design and engineering solutions tailored to client-specific requirements, balancing technical rigour, constructability, operations, and lifecycle value.
- Take a lead role in proposals and pursuits, providing technical leadership, financial and technical project management, resourcing strategies, and input into business development activities.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams across planning, engineering design, construction, post-construction, and financial management deliverables.
- Hire, develop, and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff, fostering a high-performing, inclusive team culture aligned with our values, culture, and code of ethics.
- Collaborate closely with M&E Managers and other discipline leaders (including Lighting, Structural, Architectural, BIM, Civil, and others) to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by leadership to support the success and growth of the business.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Experience leading multidisciplinary mechanical and/or electrical engineering teams delivering complex infrastructure or building-related projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Proven track record in project and financial management, including responsibility for sales, profitability, resource planning, and design quality.
- Hands-on technical background as a practicing engineer, with comfort moving between strategic leadership, project oversight, and detailed design/problem-solving.
- Demonstrated experience in managing proposals and pursuits, client relationships, and externally facing leadership on complex projects.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience in performance management, coaching, goal setting, and building engaged, high-performing teams.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and ethical practice, with the ability to lead by example and embed these principles in team culture and project delivery.
- Collaborative working style with a history of effective partnership across multiple disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, BIM, civil) in a matrixed environment.
- Professional engineering designation (e.g., P.Eng.) in a Canadian province or territory
