Join WSP's Process and Mine Infrastructure Design team as a Junior Mechanical Engineer, contributing to mining and industrial infrastructure projects from our Sudbury or Mississauga offices. In this role, your work will directly support safe, efficient, and sustainable mine operations through thoughtful mechanical design, coordination, and field collaboration.
This opportunity offers hands-on exposure across the full project lifecycle - from conceptual design to site support - while working alongside experienced professionals who are shaping the future of Canada's resource infrastructure.
Your Impact
As part of our mechanical discipline group, you will:
- Develop calculations, drawings, and 3D models for mine and process infrastructure
- Design equipment layouts, plant arrangements, piping systems, and isometrics
- Produce and interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and best practices to models and drawings
- Support conceptual, feasibility, and detailed mechanical design including equipment and piping specifications
- Review laboratory test data and apply findings to equipment selection
- Prepare material balances and process control descriptions
- Contribute to proposals, technical reports, and project documentation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and other WSP groups to deliver integrated solutions
- Visit mine sites and client facilities to support design development and implementation
- Participate actively in WSP's Health & Safety program
The Skills That Set You Apart
You bring a strong mechanical foundation and a hands-on mindset, along with:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with PEO in Ontario
- Exposure to mining or industrial operations (asset)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools
- Experience or interest in 3D modelling and mechanical layouts
- Ability to balance field and office work, including occasional work outside standard hours
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g., VB, Python) (asset)
- A demonstrated Safety-First mindset aligned with WSP's core values
- A valid driver's license

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 - $88,400
MB & ON: $60,900 - $83,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $60,300 - $80,000
