The Opportunity
Shape the future of energy systems and infrastructure with WSP's Overhead Transmission Lines team in Edmonton. Within the Power Delivery subsector of WSP, the Transmission group supports the design of medium to extra high voltage overhead transmission lines, their structures, foundations, and related facilities. This 8 to 12-month student placement offers hands-on experience in power delivery, contributing to projects that keep communities connected and powered. You'll work on fun and challenging projects and initiatives, and you'll find the support, coaching, and training it takes to advance your career.

Your Impact
- Support the design and delivery of transmission line projects, studies, and initiatives across Canada and the US.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for power delivery systems.
- Assist in preparing technical drawings, models, reports, and calculations that influence project decisions.
- Apply engineering principles to real-world challenges in energy infrastructure and sustainability.
What you'll bring to WSP
- Currently enrolled in an accredited co-op post-secondary civil, mechanical, electrical, or engineering physics program.
- Minimum of a 2.75 GPA.
- Have a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Have a strong interest in consulting engineering and the power delivery industry.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidate is legally authorized to work permanently in Canada without the need for work sponsorship.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- For electrical or engineering physics students, completion of coursework in power systems engineering is a plus.
- For civil engineering students, completion of coursework in structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying is a plus.
- Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD or other design/analysis software.
- Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil and/or electrical engineering, is desirable.
- Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
