Role Purpose:

Provides leadership and oversight for operational processes to ensure timely and accurate settlement of physical metals transactions. Ensures trades are captured and booked correctly in systems for clean downstream settlement and reporting. Provides guidance and execution in support of new strategies and daily capture of transactional information to enable downstream analytics and financial accounting processes. Maintains appropriate governance and controls over the trade capture and settlement process.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversees end-to-end settlement of physical metals trades, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
    • Implements and maintains robust controls to mitigate operational risk.
    • Supports new product launches and complex trade structures with accurate booking and settlement processes.
  • Leadership & Culture:
    • Fosters a culture aligned to BMO's purpose, values, and strategy; role models BMO values and behaviors.
    • Builds interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for stakeholders.
    • Attracts, retains, and develops top talent; coaches employees, manages performance, and supports career growth.
  • Strategic Contribution:
    • Provides strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
    • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives based on deep understanding of physical metals markets and operational processes.
    • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Governance & Risk Management:
    • Acts as subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.
    • Ensures operational integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Evaluates exceptions and escalates to senior management where required.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Leads process and system improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
    • Identifies and implements best practices, leveraging technology for automation and operational excellence.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including counterparties and custodians.
    • Communicates effectively to resolve settlement issues and deliver on business objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in physical metals operations or settlements and a post-secondary degree in Finance, Economics, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Expert knowledge of physical metals markets, trade lifecycle, and settlement processes.
  • Strong understanding of risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership experience with proven ability to manage teams and drive performance.
  • Advanced PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and settlement systems expertise.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Salary :

$86,000.00 - $160,000.00

Pay Type:

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
