Our Privacy & Data Protection team in Toronto is looking for an experienced professional like you with the skills and drive to make a real difference. A career within our Privacy & Data Protection Services will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in cybersecurity, data governance, technology risk, and AI to design and implement innovative business and technology solutions. We play an integral role in helping our clients ensure compliance and establish trust. Your work will span the full spectrum of privacy and data protection services including development of privacy programs, complex assessments, and the design and operationalization of privacy and data protection controls. With a strong focus on AI governance and its intersection with cybersecurity and enterprise risk management, you will help clients navigate regulatory landscapes, mitigate risks, and embed trust into their digital transformation journeys.

What you will do
As a member of our Privacy & Data protection team, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Proactively assist in the management of several client projects simultaneously.
  • Understand and help solve our clients' Privacy challenges.
  • Advising on both organizational and technical aspects of privacy governance, frameworks, and operating models.
  • Develop and implement privacy strategies specifically tailored to the unique challenges and regulatory requirements in Canada on federal and provincial level as well as in the global context.
  • Coaching and developing team members through sharing experience and knowledge, as well as managing the performance and development of other team members.
  • Work to innovate, build, and enhance how the KPMG Privacy team operates internally and for our clients.
  • Establish effective working relationships directly with clients.
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team's domain expertise.
  • Keep up to date with local and national regulatory, business, and economic issues.
  • Linking privacy to other advisory offerings on AI, cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, and digital transformation to provide holistic support to our clients.
  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your KMPG brand.
What you bring to the role
  • Expertise in Canadian (federal and provincial; private and public sector) and global privacy laws (primarily US, EU), regulations, frameworks (e.g., NIST Privacy Framework, ISO 27701), and emerging trends, including AI governance and ethical considerations.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business strategies and operational models.
  • Demonstrated success advising on AI privacy implications, risk mitigation, and compliance strategies.
  • Experience in organizational change management and driving organizational adoption of privacy and compliance initiatives.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts for executive audiences.
  • High degree of business acumen and understanding of technology, data ecosystems, and digital transformation.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results in fast-paced, global environments.
  • Strong people skills with a collaborative mindset and ability to build trusted client relationships and drive strategic outcomes.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying ahead of evolving privacy and AI regulatory landscapes.
  • Impeccable professional integrity, discretion, and judgment in operating in sensitive environments.
  • Advanced degree from a top-tier academic institution in science, law, engineering, international relations, or related disciplines.
  • Relevant certifications such as CIPM, CIPT, CIPP, CDPSE, AIGP, or similar.
