Practice Lead, Product Owner Practice

Job Profile Summary

The Practice Lead, Product Owner Practice is responsible for championing and evolving Product Ownership standards across the organization, with a focus on end-to-end product excellence-Vision, Strategy, Discovery, Delivery, and Talent. This role acts as a coach, mentor, and strategic partner to Product Owners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. The Practice Lead ensures alignment with enterprise strategy and supports the development of a thriving Product Owner community, driving excellence through best practices, talent development, collaborative networks, and effective resource planning.

Key Accountabilities

Customer
  • Championing the delivery of end-to-end product excellence by coaching Product Owners in vision, strategy, discovery, delivery, and talent development.
  • Partner with Product Leaders and key contributors to ensure Product Owner practices align with enterprise strategy and business goals.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Product Owner Practice strategic vision, adapting to changing customer needs and market trends.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing, best practices, and innovation across Product Owner teams, nurturing a vibrant Community of Interest.

Shareholder
  • Define, maintain, and evolve frameworks, standards, and tools for Product Ownership, embedding Practice Excellence in every aspect of the role.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of Product Owner practices, recommending enhancements to maximize business value.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to integrate Product Owner practices within their business to improve strategic alignment and help achieve customer and business outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, risk, and governance requirements in Product Owner activities within the Delivery framework and operating model.

Employee / Team
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Product Owners, accelerating talent growth and fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment.
  • Support onboarding and lead training, and continuous learning initiatives for Product Owners, supporting Talent Acceleration.
  • Model and cultivate the organization's values, supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Facilitate feedback, recognition, and career development for Product Owners, strengthening the Community of Interest.

Breadth & Depth
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Product Ownership, providing thought leadership and advisory support to executives and business segment leaders.
  • Integrate knowledge of enterprise strategy to guide Product Owner practice development across multiple functions and business lines.
  • Anticipate emerging trends in product ownership and adapt practices, accordingly, ensuring ongoing Practice Excellence.
  • Solve complex problems and lead cross-functional initiatives to advance Product Model excellence across the enterprise.

Experience and/or Education
  • The ideal candidate has 5+ years relevant experience, including 3+ years in Product Owner or Product Management roles within an Agile environment.
  • Undergraduate degree and/or Product Owner/Product Management relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and developing Product Owners or product teams, up through and including Executive-level Product Owners and/or Product Managers
  • SAFe, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or other scaled agile certifications are considered an asset.
  • Proven track record in driving product strategy, vision, discovery and delivery across multiple teams or business units.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the VP, Practice Owner of Product Owner Practice.
  • Partners closely with Product Leaders, Product Owners, Agile Practice Leads, Design Practice, and many other key contributors and stakeholders.
