The Manager, Business Banking Account Management supports the design, execution, and continuous refinement of credit account management strategies across Business Banking lending products. This role focuses on optimizing portfolio quality, elevating the client experience, and ensuring Business Banking clients receive proactive, data-driven support throughout the lending lifecycle.
Working closely with Credit Risk, Underwriting, Analytics, and Relationship Management teams, the Manager applies financial analysis, risk insights, and strategy execution skills to manage exposure, strengthen portfolio resilience, and enable consistent, high-quality lending decisions.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

Key Responsibilities
Account Management Strategy & Execution
- Support the development and optimization of end-to-end account management strategies across the Business Banking credit lifecycle.
- Execute strategy changes within decision platforms, ensuring alignment to risk appetite, profitability, and client experience objectives.
- Apply decisioning logic, segmentation rules, and treatment paths that guide limit management, exposure updates, and behavioural interventions.
Ongoing Portfolio Management
- Monitor client behaviour, credit trends, early warning indicators, and exposure patterns to identify risks and opportunities within the portfolio.
- Recommend strategy adjustments to maintain portfolio quality and ensure outcomes remain within risk appetite.
- Prepare insights and reporting packages that highlight emerging trends and client needs.
Early Warning & Intervention
- Execute early warning, pre-delinquency, and behavioural segmentation strategies that support proactive client management.
- Work with partner teams to deploy client-level actions at appropriate points in the lifecycle (e.g., limit reviews, exposure reductions, outreach triggers).
Model & Analytical Tool Application
- Use credit scores, financial signals, and risk models appropriately to support account management decisions.
- Partner with model users and analysts to interpret model outputs and ensure strategies are correctly calibrated.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Underwriting, Relationship Management, Collections, Product, and Risk teams to ensure coordinated actions across the client lifecycle.
- Translate strategy requirements into clear operational steps for technology and business partners.
- Support documentation of strategy logic, governance requirements, and policy alignment.
Testing & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in champion-challenger tests to evaluate new account management treatments and decision paths.
- Analyze results, identify improvement opportunities, and support the rollout of optimized strategies.
- Contribute ideas for new segmentation schemes, risk signals, or decision enhancements.
Governance, Compliance & Controls
- Ensure account management strategies comply with credit policy, regulatory expectations, and model governance standards.
- Support ongoing validation, monitoring, and documentation to maintain strong strategy governance.
- 3-5 years of experience in Business Banking, credit risk management, account management, underwriting, or related analytical roles.
- Strong understanding of Business Banking lending products, financial analysis, and credit lifecycle processes.
- Experience working with risk models, credit scores, and/or behavioural segmentation tools.
- Proficiency with analytical platforms (e.g., decision engines, SAS, SQL, FICO, or similar decision tree tools).
- Strong problem solving, quantitative analysis, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategy recommendations.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across underwriting, relationship management, analytics, and product teams.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, testing culture, and data-driven decisioning.
