Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

Our Risk Management & Compliance team is seeking a Manager, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Compliance to join our growing team. As part of Business Enablement Services, the Risk Management & Compliance team helps ensure that the firm and its personnel operate in compliance with professional, regulatory, and KPMG Global standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for the administration of the firm's internal AML compliance program, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in protecting KPMG's reputation while supporting adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

This is a remote position, with the option to work from a KPMG office if desired.

What you will do
Reporting to the Senior Director, Risk Management and Compliance, you will be accountable for the ongoing administration of the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program. Key responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring regulatory advisories and assessing their impact on the firm's existing processes, identifying and recommending enhancements where appropriate.
  • Performing risk-based assessments and documenting analysis in a clear, concise manner, ensuring conclusions are appropriately supported and evidenced.
  • Conducting process reviews to identify opportunities for improvement, performing root cause analysis, and recommending solutions.
  • Administering the AML compliance program by executing monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc compliance procedures.
  • Maintaining and updating compliance program documentation, including policies and procedure manuals.
  • Responding to inquiries, analyzing case submissions, and addressing consultation requests.
  • Preparing reports and presenting findings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Building strong relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams, process owners, stakeholders, and internal and external legal counsel.
At times, business needs arise and employees may be required, and agree, to work beyond their normal workday or workweek to fulfill the responsibilities of their role. We also recognize the importance of flexibility and providing employees with the time they need to attend to personal matters, and our approach supports this balance.

What you bring to the role
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a regulatory compliance or compliance risk role.
  • Knowledge of Canadian AML legislative requirements, including FINTRAC guidelines.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or other recognized AML, Financial Crimes, or Know Your Client (KYC) certifications considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Know Your Client (KYC) requirements.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, performing gap analyses, and monitoring remediation initiatives.
  • Experience performing quality reviews, internal controls testing, and compliance testing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience supporting change management initiatives and/or developing and implementing new processes and procedures.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and sound judgment when handling confidential matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong documentation capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
