As a Senior Lighting Designer within our Buildings | Electrical team, you will shape environments that balance creativity, performance, and human experience. Based in Thornhill, Ontario, this role places you at the centre of multidisciplinary building projects-where thoughtful lighting design enhances how people live, work, and connect.

You will contribute to a wide range of Property & Buildings projects, applying both technical rigour and creative insight to deliver lighting solutions that are efficient, compliant, and inspiring.

Your Impact
  • Develop lighting design concepts and detailed layouts for building projects, from early vision through construction documentation
  • Produce photometric calculations and lighting studies that inform high-quality, evidence-based design decisions
  • Design lighting systems for specialized environments, including healthcare facilities and laboratory spaces
  • Integrate lighting controls and sequences of operation with broader building systems
  • Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, and internal project teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Prepare drawings, schedules, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support projects through the construction phase
  • Participate in design and site meetings, contributing technical insight and creative problem-solving
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including IES, CEC/NEC, ASHRAE, and healthcare guidelines

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Diploma or certificate in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3-7 years of experience as a professional lighting designer, supported by a strong design portfolio
  • Practical experience with lighting controls, photometric modeling, and performance-based design
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, AGi32, and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Canadian building codes, lighting standards, and energy efficiency requirements
  • Ability to balance creative vision with technical execution across complex building projects

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 - $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 - $97,200
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 - $92,900
