The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Land Development Practice Leader to join our Urban and Community Planning team, located at our Toronto, Thornhill, or Kitchener offices. Reporting to the Director, Planning Ontario, this position will be responsible for helping to grow our land development planning group and working on a variety of land development projects in the Greater Toronto Area, and across Ontario and Canada.

What you can expect do here:
  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team on a range of land development projects including planning approvals such as Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Draft Plan of Subdivision, Draft Plan of Condominium, Site Plan Approval, and Committee of Adjustment Applications;
  • Organizing and participating in all sizes of stakeholder meetings and public consultation processes;
  • Leading research and preparation of planning due diligence reports, planning justification reports, planning opinion reports, and land use analyses;
  • Preparing for and presenting evidence to the Ontario Land Tribunal;
  • Collaborating in a multi-disciplinary professional services environment;
  • Leading client engagement and business development for the Land Development Practice; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • University degree in Planning;
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in professional planning;
  • Registered Professional Planner in the Province of Ontario;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong project management experience with complex planning projects comprised of multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information;
  • Client management and/or business development experience is preferred;
  • Highly motivated, organized, flexible, enthusiastic team player committed to upholding our reputation for delivering high quality service;
  • Excellent written and oral communication and time management skills; and
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License
