The Opportunity:

The Central and Atlantic Resources Team is seeking an Intermediate Process Engineer at one of our offices located in the GTA, preferably at Thornhill, ON.

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of industrial and manufacturing projects including but not limited to mining, minerals processing, steelmaking & processing, chemical plants, battery manufacturing, food and beverages, and clean/renewable energy. This position will provide you with experience on various phases from FEED to detailed engineering.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Preparation of process-related drawings and documents including PFDs, P&IDs, other process schematics, datasheets, technical reports/specifications, equipment general arrangement;
  • Perform engineering analysis/calculations, mass & energy balance, equipment, pressure safety/relief & control valves sizing conform to operational and regulatory standards;
  • Provide quality review and seal project documents and drawings;
  • Assistance with tendering packages, proposal development, and engineering estimates;
  • Build and maintain client relationships and respond to client requests;
  • Provide mentorship to junior colleagues/engineers;
  • Provide project support and be adept at working with multiple concurrent projects while adhering to the project timeline and budget;
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other disciplines or WSP group members, equipment vendors or suppliers, clients and sub-contractors;
  • Travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews or site inspections for design verification/implementation while observing all applicable safety regulations and policies;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Graduated from a Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering program with 7-10 years relevant working experience;
  • Registered as P.Eng licence with Professional Engineer Ontario (PEO), other provinces/states a benefit;
  • Be fluent in the English language both verbal and written, knowledge of French would be an asset;
  • Possess strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, capable in proactively addresses problems within scope of responsibility;
  • Knowledge of specialized process software including Aspen HYSYS Ò , Aspen Plus Ò , AFT Software Products, METSIM Ò ;
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs, Bluebeam;
  • Knowledge of industry codes, standards and practices would be an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and capable of effectively interfacing with all levels of management, other designers, engineers, field and contract personnel is required;
  • Proven record on both independent work and ability to work effectively within a team environment;
  • Valid driver's licence.
