- Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Provides advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of solutions.
- Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy
- Ensures alignment between stakeholders.
- Produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
- Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels.
- Provides input into operational and capital planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Plans or maintains the reliable operation of integrated facility infrastructure support systems (e.g. electrical and mechanical systems, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), emergency power generators, hydro power, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), fire detection and suppression, electrical power monitoring system) and building automation systems to fulfil mandated uptime commitment.
- Inspects grounds, facilities, and infrastructure support systems, and their performance to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance, and conducts scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance
- Identifies and investigates issues to determine causes, may schedule work, perform minor repairs, may produce and verify work plans, document work in an asset management system, may oversees the Work Order life cycle, and engages internal resources or external service providers and resolve issues or escalate to the manager; provides communication to management and key stakeholders.
- Depending on the configuration of the role and the structure of the team, may assume team leadership responsibilities. This may include providing specialized technical and analytical support by managing the Asset Management System work order lifecycle, coordinating site safety and job safety plans for critical environments, overseeing team training compliance, maintaining critical spare parts inventory, and supporting audits.
- Responds to building occupant requests and concerns that resolve facility issues.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
- Typically, between 5-7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and/or trade certification is optional but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
- Experience with building infrastructure system design electrical and/or mechanical engineering, preferably within Critical Environments and/or financial services environment.
- Solid experience with electrical and/or mechanical and architectural planning and design related to high availability computer facilities, field construction methods and fire prevention including experience providing emergency response support.
- Good understanding of environmental requirements of computer hardware, data communications, business process equipment, and overall building systems in continuous production environments and associated risks and impacts.
- Experience with reviewing project documentation and providing feedback and translating business requirements into system solutions.
- Working knowledge of construction codes, by-laws, facilities management, operations, health and safety, and industry standards pertaining to critical systems planning, engineering design and installation.
- Familiarity with financial budgeting and financial processes, operations and construction contract policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
- Exposure to process and/or project management tools and methodologies.
- Basic understanding of risk and regulatory requirements, policies, and best practices relevant to financial institutions.
- Proficiency with planning design software tools, AutoCAD database management, and the Microsoft Office suite.
