Job Role: Civil Engineer

Work Location: Pickering, Ontario
Remote Work Acceptable: NO. This is On-site work (5 days/week in the office required)
Contract Length: 12-month contract (Possible Extensions)
Type of Contract: Full-Time Contract - 40 hours/week

MUST HAVE :
• Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario (P.Eng.)
• Nuclear experience - OPG preferred
• Experience - 0-5 years

- Need pressure boundary qualification

Job Summary :
    • Under broad supervision, performs higher complexity engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity, and the development of new methods or resolution of conflicting objectives by using established methodologies and applying sound engineering principles.
    • Provides advanced structural technical support, guides, and reviews the work of other team members.
    • Provide civil engineering support for Steam Generator Replacement Project. Roles include the development and verification of calculations, as well as the analysis of existing structures to support project execution.
    • Provide engineering justification/approval for requested construction changes, and support required design changes to existing engineering documents. Provide knowledge in structural steel and concrete design and installation, and the ability to quickly resolve field issues that warrant engineering changes.
Major Duties
    • Performs a variety of more complex engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.
    • Prepare design change notice (EC) packages in accordance with customer engineering change procedures
    • Support field construction and execution activities, including field change notices, design revisions, commissioning, and EC closeout.
    • Receives minimal assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
    • Ensures compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering standards, including CSA S16, A23.3, N291, S136, and S157
    • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
    • Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models to provide added value solutions to customers.
    • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
    • Coordinates engineering work performed by subcontractors and vendors
    • Coordinates, reviews, and verifies work performed by junior staff
    • Coordinates change requests from construction and procurement
    • Works on special projects, as directed.
    • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
    • Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria
    • Good communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
    • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships
    • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
