The Opportunity:

WSP is currently hiring a permanent experienced Occupational Hygiene Consultant with previous experience in Occupational Hygiene, Potable Water Sampling, and Hazardous Materials consulting to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team in Toronto.

If you're hoping to join our growing team of EHS professionals, you'll be coming to the table with some previous experience with indoor air quality assessments, drinking water sampling, and industrial hygiene assessments. Reporting to the Project Manager you will be completing investigations including exposure assessments, mould investigations, drinking water quality sampling programs, and hazardous materials investigation and abatement monitoring programs including onsite PCM counting.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Performing onsite Health / Industrial Hygiene risk assessments (qualitative & quantitative).
  • Participating in the development of sampling strategies and annual planning for exposure monitoring.
  • Conducting occupational exposure assessments for chemical, biological and physical hazards in a variety of workplace settings.
  • Conducting indoor air quality assessments
  • Performing inspections and evaluate building systems and materials for hazardous materials
  • Providing on-site inspection services for remediation projects, including contractor oversight, occupational, area and clearance air sampling, and reporting to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Analyzing onsite airborne fibre samples.
  • Conducting potable / drinking water quality assessments.
  • Completing daily report generation, database management, public correspondence, and QA / QC for multiple large-scale drinking water sampling and source water protection programs.
  • Detailed technical report writing based on comprehensive field notes collected on site.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relations with existing and prospective clients.
  • From time to time, due to project needs, you may be required to work away from home, overnight, and on certain weekends - all project related travel will be covered by the company.
  • We will entrust you to carry out assignments with minimal supervision and have excellent time management skills.
  • Participating in and encouraging adherence to our Health and Safety policies and programs at all times.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • You have completed a college or university degree in health and safety, occupational hygiene, or engineering.
  • Working towards a CIH or ROH designation and must be eligible for designation within 3-5 years.
  • Must have exceptional time management skills and are able to deliver reports on a defined timeline.
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety, construction, and environmental legislation in Ontario.
  • Must have two to five years of experience in occupational hygiene consulting, completing occupational/industrial hygiene assessments for a variety of workplace settings.
  • Previous experience with analyzing airborne fibre samples and registration with IRRST's fibre counting program is required.
  • Excellent computer skills for data management and manipulation including strong familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Initiative to apply knowledge and suggest practical solutions to field challenges.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $45.000 - $60.000
