The Opportunity:

Our team is growing, and as a result WSP 's Earth & Environment group is currently seeking a Junior to Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Technician to join our Environment team in Windsor, Ontario . The position will help deliver existing projects and develop new business opportunities. The WSP Environment team consists of a dynamic team of environmental engineers, geoscientists, engineers/geoscientists in training, and environmental technologists/technicians with strong technical skills and existing client relationships.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting contaminated lands and waste management related projects of varying size and complexity, along with the potential for exposure to projects in other areas of Earth & Environment, including hydrogeology (e.g., aggregates).

What you will do at WSP
  • Assisting with Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments, detailed site assessments, spill assessments and clean-up, and groundwater monitoring including budget preparation, tracking costs, and providing project status updates and reports;
  • Assisting with excess soil O.Reg. 406/19 reporting and sampling;
  • Assisting with landfill compliance monitoring field programs and reporting;
  • Unsupervised performance of field assignments as authorized by Project Managers and Team Leads;
  • Teaming with project technicians, scientists, contractors and other field personnel to complete on-site environmental project tasks;
  • Collection and documentation of pertinent field data according to industry standards and WSP protocols and procedures;
  • Communicating with clients, service companies, laboratories, government and partners regarding project tasks;
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports;
  • Ensure implementation of corporate and client safety programs on all projects

What you will bring to WSP
  • 3 - 10 years in environmental consulting with field experience
  • Technical diploma in environmental sciences/technology or University degree in environmental/geological/civil engineering, geoscience, or a related discipline
  • Eligible for membership in a professional organization (e.g. P.Geo. or P.Eng.) is an asset but not a requirement
  • Experience with Ontario Regulations is preferred
  • Excellent reporting and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license with no restrictions
  • Hardworking, positive attitude and team spirit
