Reporting to the Chief Information Technology & Cyber Security Officer, the VP Business Support Systems (BSS) will be responsible for developing and driving IT strategies and solutions to meet business objectives and provide an optimal experience for our Wireless, Residential, Rogers Bank and Today's Shopping Choice customers. They will lead a national team of IT professionals and leverage 3rd party partnerships to deliver on current day commitments, while future proofing for target state requirements.

Your key accountabilities will include:

Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term strategies to provide IT solutions to address business requirements; align strategic vision with the overarching goals of the company
  • Apply customer lens to all elements of technical roadmaps to ensure effective business solution outcomes
  • Deliver efficiencies through integration of IT stacks, including customer relationship management (CRM), ordering, billing and provisioning systems
  • Provide oversight and leadership of Enterprise IT Architecture

Internal and External Relationships:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, industry peers and internal stakeholders to drive a common understanding of IT strategy and solutions as well as operational excellence
  • Actively engage as a member of extended Wireless and Residential leadership teams, as well as with Customer Experience, Rogers Bank and Today's Shopping Choice key partners
  • In partnership with Procurement, negotiate and manage vendor agreements and relationships
  • Develop partnerships with Finance and HR to support relevant initiatives

Supporting Business Outcomes:
  • Support the outcomes of the business units by partnering with them on outcome discussion resulting in structuring programs and portfolios from intake to delivery in pursuit of the outcomes to reach the strategic goals of Rogers
  • Being a trusted partner to the business on advising and ensuring the inputs are being shaped into the direction going forward

Operational Excellence:
  • Ensure BSS systems are current, secure, reliable and appropriately supported
  • Drive focus on the customer experience across portfolio and ensure customer promise commitments are consistently met/exceeded
  • Implement tools and practices to proactively identify and mitigate potential incidents
  • Demonstrate appropriate level of urgency to resolve incidents; manage stakeholder communications as needed
  • Leverage DevOps practices, automated solutions, machine learning and AI to execute and drive efficiencies
  • Participate in company governance/business forums

Budget Management:
  • Deliver on financial objectives (capex / opex)
  • Oversee department budgets ensuring cost-effective and appropriate allocation of resources
  • Identify opportunities to balance cost of IT relative to company revenue

Talent Management:
  • Attract, develop, and retain skilled IT professionals to support business needs
  • Enable business continuity through robust succession planning for key roles
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration and diversity of experience and thought
  • Determine appropriate allocation of internal and external resources across portfolio

What you bring to the role:
  • Executive level depth & breadth of information technology experience, complemented by an appreciation for the customer experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing a multi-year IT strategy/roadmap; able to establish/convey a clear vision for the strategy, aligned with company goals
  • Have led complex Enterprise-wide Information Technology transformations (modernization, consolidation and simplification) delivering efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to zoom in and zoom out between strategy and execution and big picture and details
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, and an ability to embrace change and lead others through it
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities, driving vision and strategies and inspiring a high performing culture across the team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to articulate complex IT concepts to both technical & non-technical stakeholders
    • Proven capability to work collaboratively across various departments and levels of the organization to achieve common goals
    • Ability to make informed, timely decisions and take ownership of those decisions to drive the organization's security agenda forward
    • Strong track record of prioritizing internal development and promoting from within
    • Experience leading large national teams, with a reputation for attracting, developing and inspiring talent and being visible/present for team members and colleagues
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
