Director (D) or Vice President (VP) will lead a team responsible for the portfolio management of credit exposures to BMO's Metals and Mining (M&M) corporate loan portfolio. The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and has a proven track record of coordinating internal and external teams to meet both transaction and internal deadlines. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of the ongoing portfolio management of the M&M lending portfolio. The ability to work independently as well as lead the portfolio management team with minimal guidance under time constraints will be a key differentiator of success.

Portfolio Management:

• Independently lead M&M portfolio management team

• Understand complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).

• Lead annual reviews of loan portfolio, maintain borrower monthly and quarterly compliance reporting as applicable, and respond to internal / external audits

• Monitor and support portfolio including consent / waiver / amendment processes, and other credit events that may impact borrowers

• Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures

• Lead preparation of credit documentation (i.e., applications, memoranda, presentations, etc.) for risk committees

• Summarize diligence materials to develop and produce coherent recommendations and identify key risks and mitigants

• Coordinate with credit and operations teams for ongoing maintenance of the loan portfolio

• Maintain borrower credit files in a timely fashion

• Working with origination teams to establish limits for ancillary products (Treasury Products, Trade Finance, Interest Rate and Commodities Hedging, etc.)

• Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed

Coaching and Mentorship:
  • The D or VP will manage a team of junior professionals
  • Provide oversight to Analysts/ Associates on management of existing assets
  • The D or VP will act as a coach/ mentor to junior professionals
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree has focal areas of finance, economics, or accounting preferred with high academic achievement.
  • MBA, CFA or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting, or legal fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in investment and/or corporate banking, negotiating and structuring financial transactions.
  • Relevant M&M banking experience is highly desired.
  • Excellent knowledge of the lending and portfolio management practices and objectives.
  • Excellent knowledge of the bank's financial solution products and services.
  • Ability to create and deliver professional presentations.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.

Base Salary:

Vice President level: $150,000

Director level: $175,000

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
