As a Utilities Grid Modernization Senior Associate , you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Advanced Power Systems Application implementation and integration which includes testing, integration, and deployment of grid management applications such as EMS, SCADA, OMS, EAMS, MMS, and GIS.
• Working with Electric Utilities or ISOs (Independent System Operators) and Transmission and Distribution System Operators on modelling, functional software specifications, designing, coding, testing, integration, application tuning and delivery.
• As a member and leader in grid management application deployment , representing the face of high-quality and reliable testing, integration , and deployment practices . Implement new functionalities in power system application software with focus on modelling aspects
• Understand customer Application modelling needs and design metamodels and transformation of data to target database formats with strong understanding of CIM
• Work on model migration and conversion of data to format needed for advanced Power Systems Application, SCADA and Power Market
• Provides maintenance of power systems application functionality, including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces.
• Collaborates with system/project engineers, frontend developers and EMS, ADMS, SCADA, and market application developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction.
• Consults with other technical/project leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are being followed . Responsible for writing EMS Functional Software Designs.
• Provides inputs to technical/project lead on schedules and cost estimates.
• Interfaces with customers on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise .
• Mentors interns and junior staff.
Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
• Experience in power system analysis using leading grid planning and management applications.
• Project delivery experience including QA testing, integration and/or application deployment experience preferably with utilities
• Good understanding of power systems and/or energy management systems with focus on modelling for Power Applications
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures . Ability to make formal and informal presentation to technical and non-technical staff and customers.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Work and/or academic experience in the power systems area.
• Excellent programming skills in C++, Java or other related language, as required . Knowledge on Perl, PowerShell and SQL (MSSQL and/or T-SQL) scripting languages. Good understanding of database operation.
• Excellent knowledge of assigned technical area and a strong understanding of the power applications such as EMS, SCADA, OMS and some previous experience with deployment of applications.
• Exposure to CIM and other model exchange formats
• Strong knowledge of customer perspective and needs.
• Proven software development and deployment skills at the application and technical area level.
• Ability to see integration issues and to preclude schedule impacts.
