What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets Central Funding Group (CFG) is a critical business unit of the bank. CFG provides funding and liquidity management to the Bank as a whole. RBC CM's Securities Lending Group is an important part of the CFG business. The unit trades in a diverse set of instruments and markets, including equities, money markets, fixed income, and derivatives. The business is truly global with business in Toronto, New York, London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Channel Islands and the Caribbean.
We are hiring for a development and support role for Front office Apex application management. This application is used globally to finance the CM's trading assets via sales and repurchase transactions (repos) as well as securities lending/borrowing trades. The system provides out of the box connectivity and flexible integration tools allowing for significant bespoke development. What will you do?
We are looking for talented and self-motivated individuals to join our FO technology team to help us with the various lights-on activities like Tidal to Control-M migration, Solaris to Linux migration, Oracle 12 upgrade along with ongoing development and integration of our front office trading and reporting system. This individual will partner across CM IT and business groups to analyze and map business system issues and processes and document solutions that satisfy stakeholder requirements, all in a fast-paced and exciting environment.Be able to collaborate with different business/user groups and technology teams. Takes initiative and work with minimal supervision.Have excellent knowledge of scheduling tools like Tidal and Control-MHave 5-10 years of working knowledge of UNIX/Perl scripting.Have a good understanding of the software development life cycle; generate good time estimates and be able to produce deliverables on time.Develop code that is easy to test and maintain. Develop unit tests and work with the rest of the team to ensure all software is tested comprehensively. What do you need to succeed?Must-Have:Post secondary degree in Computer Science, Information systems or equivalent work experience.At least 5 years of experience in software development.Experience with Java, SQLExperience with Jasper reporting tool.Finance or capital markets operations environment and knowledge of financial instruments and trading systems is a strong plusExcellent analytical and problem solving skills.Apex knowledge preferred. Nice-to-have:A sense of ownership, be a self-starter and results-oriented.Organizational skills needed to handle multiple, parallel assignments.What's in it for you?
