The Team
This role will be within the Scotiabank Canadian Banking Technology group, Retail Payments, Data and Transaction team. Key responsibilities include business engagement, requirement & analysis functions enabling Canadian Banking business and technology projects and support. Incumbent will be partnering with multiple business and technology teams to ensure overall success of Retail Payments and Unsecured Lending RPUL portfolio.

Is this role right for you?
  • Works closely with Delivery and Engineering teams, Product Owners and technical platform teams to define, design and develop high quality solutions supporting business capabilities that enable business and technical strategies with focus on growth, customer experience, risk management and efficiency.
  • Owns end-to-end business requirement & analysis, partners with delivery/engineering organization to design and develop complex systems including legacy systems, integration, distributed & cloud based applications
  • Has deep understanding of SDLC process and various delivery methodologies including waterfall, agile and hybrid approach.
  • Has extensive experience using a systems analysis and design methodology
  • Provides expertise to development team working from various locations on system development and systems integration. This should also extend to providing detailed guidance at requirements and use cases to support engineers delivering and testing of application/code.
  • Defines and enhances requirements to support the platforms in terms of robustness, scalability, availability and efficiency
  • Understands testing at every stage of development. This includes unit, mutation, use-case, performance, availability, user and consistency testing
  • Communicates with precision while being concise.
  • Aligns solution to strategic technical and capability roadmaps and identifies new shared capabilities and business opportunities.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • Experience in Financial Institutions with in areas such as Retail Payments, Unsecured Lending, Retail Banking, Loyalty, Data
  • Practical experience of the following technologies and platforms (deep technical understanding in several areas is expected)
    • Loyalty program
    • TSYS TS2
    • Retail payments and unsecured lending
    • Retail Payment networks - Visa, Amex, Mastercard, Interac
    • Data mapping and use of data access solutions
    • IT systems architecture and design
    • Communication protocols
    • API & Service Integration development techniques
    • Performance engineering techniques
    • Good knowledge of Domain Driven Design and multiple Java frameworks
    • Experience in delivering capabilities using automated testing and monitoring
    • Experience of working with Enterprise Delivery Frameworks
  • Experience in large platform migration project preferably for credit cards, customer information
  • Experience of a broad range of retail banking business, regulatory, compliance and technology domains and technology implementations
