Our UX team is looking for a skilled senior user experience (UX) designer who is passionate about making complex healthcare systems simple and efficient to use, ensure they fundamentally support the health care workers who depend on them and minimize error to maximize patient safety.

As part of a dynamic team of highly skilled UX specialists you will have the opportunity to influence the evolution of products across TELUS Health with initial focus on health benefits applications that support insurance companies to provide the best health benefits coverage possible.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

As an experienced UX designer, you will leverage best in class UX research & design methods to engage with clinical and health benefits experts to understand how they work and think. Working collaboratively within an integrated team of skilled product managers, UX designers, software architects and developers, you will effectively synthesize user research and transform findings into effective, compelling user experiences which will:
    •Enable more effective healthcare workflows
    •Ensure patient safety and facilitate optimum health benefit management
    •Increase product value by designing to support underlying user needs
    •In essence make healthcare better, faster, and safer for everyone

Here's how - You will:
    •Be responsible for the design of the end-to-end experience of clinical and health benefits users who engage with TELUS Health products, supporting how they think and work
    •Rapidly develop deep healthcare and health insurance domain knowledge
    •In collaboration with product management, plan, perform and analyze user research to understand and clearly articulate underlying user needs
    •Translate research findings into meaningful personas, journey maps, and usage scenarios to inform requirements
    •Define high level user experience architecture, navigation and task flows to support user needs and goals
    •Lead the iterative creation of innovative, highly usable and visually effective user interfaces, wireframes of navigation flows, rapid prototypes and other artifacts for customer and internal stakeholder review including technical feasibility
    •Lead the refinement of designs with the development team, clearly communicating user needs and design specifications; working collaboratively to arrive at solutions that are technically cost-effective while still providing a superior user experience
    •Work closely with the development team to review changes and ensure that final products are aligned with designs and user needs
    •Continuously develop skills and knowledge of latest UX best practices
    •Coach and mentor more junior UX staff and product teams on principles of user-centered design



Qualifications:


You're the missing piece of the puzzle. You have:
    •A degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or other related fields
    •5+ years of experience driving user experience research and design for complex enterprise systems preferably in healthcare areas such as clinical software, health insurance, pharmacy, etc
    •Demonstrated ability to learn new complex domains quickly, rapidly assimilate new information and grasping key points from an overwhelming amount of new information
    •Experience as a senior UX designer with a body of work that demonstrates your depth of skill, and ability to lead design in projects including persona development, job shadowing, task flow development, information hierarchy, navigation design
    •The ability to optimize human cognitive and sensory strengths/weaknesses through your skill in visual design
    •Effectively added feature capability to legacy products as well as designed responsive (desktop to mobile) web applications from the ground up
    •Worked collaboratively into an inter-disciplinary software development team resulting in a deep understanding of:
      •The digital product development life cycle in a highly-collaborative, agile environment as well as traditional waterfall model
      •How to effectively integrate user experience best-practice into the software development life cycle
      •How to influence product requirements through UX research and analysis
    •Experience facilitating user research interviews, concept reviews, usability testing, design sprints, as well as adeptness in communicating design rationale and building consensus
    •Demonstrated skill in using design systems and design tools such as Figma, XD, Axure as well as Adobe creative cloud
    •An understanding of web accessibility best practices and an ability to create accessible products
    •The ability to manage multiple projects at a time and love the variety that it provides
    •The drive to run with the challenge, knowing when to ask for feedback or support
    •The ability to make effective business trade-off decisions regarding value of functionality to the user experience vs cost to deliver
    •Excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills

Great-to-haves
    •An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or other related fields
    •Experience in healthcare industry
    •Fluency in both English and French is an asset
