  • Job Purpose

    The Senior Testing and Quality Assurance Specialist plays a key role in Coast Capital's risk management framework by independently assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls across the organization. This role conducts risk-based reviews, evaluates compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and operational standards, and provides recommendations to strengthen controls, processes, and governance practices. Working closely with all Three Lines of Defense, the incumbent supports a strong risk management culture through collaboration, testing activities and advisory support. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills to effectively identify risks, evaluate controls, and provide practical recommendations that support organizational objectives.

    We welcome diverse experience and perspectives, particularly from Compliance, Internal Audit, Treasury, Finance, Financial Oversight, Controls Testing, and Automation. This role offers strong cross-functional exposure and visibility across the organization, with opportunities to influence enterprise-wide risk management initiatives.

    This role is hybrid remote, with occasional in-office attendance based on business needs. The role may be based out of our Surrey, BC or Toronto, ON office

    Accountabilities
  • Independently plan, organize, and conduct risk-based reviews to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and support the achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.
  • Identify control weaknesses, operational risks, and process improvement opportunities, and provide practical recommendations to management.
  • Prepare, maintain, and present clear and comprehensive review reports, findings, recommendations, and executive summaries.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all Three Lines of Defense to support risk management initiatives and strengthen internal control environments.
  • Provide advisory support regarding policies, procedures, governance practices, and internal control expectations.
  • Research and remain current on emerging risks, industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices related to risk management and internal controls.
  • Support enterprise risk management activities, certifications, regulatory examinations, and other risk-related initiatives as required.
  • Promote a strong risk-aware culture by fostering collaborative relationships and encouraging effective risk management practices across the organization.

  • Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in risk management, internal controls testing, quality assurance, audit, compliance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise and operational risk management frameworks, methodologies, and the Three Lines of Defense model.
  • Experience assessing and testing internal controls, identifying risks, and evaluating process effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, governance practices, and risk management principles within the financial services industry.
  • Professional designations such as CPA, CIA, CISA, FRM, ACAMS, or progress toward completion are considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop meaningful recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with data analytics tools, testing automation and reporting solutions is considered an asset.
