North American Credit Systems Management is responsible for the operationalization of Credit decisions across the entire credit lifecycle, from on-boarding/adjudication to account/customer management. The team is primarily comprised of technologists of varying degrees of tenure. Junior resources focus upon domain specific Credit Risk rules development, Senior resources are assigned as SME's to large scale projects and advanced development initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Risk Systems Solutions, the Senior Technology Specialist position is responsible for "full stack" development on the BMO Credit Risk Decision platform, providing expertise and leadership in all aspects of functionality. In addition to having expert knowledge of the Credit Risk Decision platform, responsibilities will also include the evaluation of new technologies (open source/proprietary) within the context of Credit Risk Decisions, providing assessments and feedback for future state roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Maintains and enhances integrations with Credit Bureaus Canada/US
  • Researches and drives innovation and strategic opportunities to maximize the capabilities and value of Risk Systems.
  • Informs, influences and supports the planning and execution of system management infrastructure roadmap and development activities for a designated portfolio.
  • Consults & provides expert advice and guidance to assigned business group on risk system solutions.
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Supports development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including product enhancements.
  • Leads the design, implementation and management of changes to the risk production processes & systems.
  • Monitors risk system technical infrastructure, applications and/or business transactions across the environment.
  • Breaks down strategic problems and analyses information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborates with Technology service providers and other stakeholders to investigate, perform root cause analysis and plan corrective actions; follows production environment support processes and guidelines.
  • Executes routine tasks such as maintenance, service requests, transactions, queries etc. within service level agreements
  • Monitors and tracks performance and addresses any issues.
  • Coaching, knowledge sharing & support for team members with less experience.
  • Contributes to the evolution, enhancement and optimization of change execution and risk control practices.


Knowledge and Skills

Qualifications:
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
  • Advanced to Expert polyglot developer skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk system management concepts and applications.
  • Advanced knowledge & experience with risk policy frameworks; quality control / testing frameworks.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - Advanced.
  • Collaboration, Influence & team skills - Advanced.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills - Advanced.
  • Data driven decision making - Advanced.
  • Enterprise level integration projects, with specific experience in integration patterns that rely upon async messaging solutions


Technical Skills:
  • A Polyglot developer, with particular experience with the following languages: Javascript, Groovy, Python, SAS, PMML and JAVA.
  • FICO 7.6 Blaze Advisor development
  • FICO Decision Modeller
  • FICO Data Management Platform Streaming or experience with streaming frameworks (Apache storm/Kafka)
  • FICO Solution Editor
  • FICO Data Orchestrator, GDS Dataview 360
  • Experience with semi-structured data (XML/JSON) and corresponding serialization libraries; JAX-B, Jackson JSON.
  • Experience with Object Management Group (OMG) standards Decision model notation (DMN) and Business Process Model Notation (BPMN).
  • Experience with consuming API's (SOAP and RESTful).
  • 2-3 years of experience with Canadian Consumer Equifax STS 5.0
  • 2-3 years of experience with Canadian Consumer Trans Union Automated Inquiry 4.0
  • 2-3 years of experience with US Consumer Trans Union Automated Inquiry 4.1 (TUNA)
