By joining our Cyber Security Analytics team, you'll be part of an exciting journey to build a large-scale distributed data platform with other professionals who are passionate about software engineering, data engineering and analytics. We strive to apply our knowledge and learnings to solve complex, real world problems, build scalable solutions, verified through automated testing and developed iteratively, and deliver high-quality, next generation enterprise software for cyber security analytics.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll apply your expert knowledge and innovative thinking to tackle challenging and stimulating projects using new, cutting edge technologies. Our technology stack is built using tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam, Splunk running on Hadoop ecosystem (Apache YARN, HDFS, HBase) as well as on public cloud tech stack and infrastructure. You'll collaborate closely with other engineers and architects, sharing ideas, knowledge and experiences that will shape the state-of-the-art in cyber security domain and safeguard our customers.

Here's how
    •Implement and evolve TELUS Cyber Security DataLake using cutting edge,big data technologies
    •Collaborate with engineering teams and architects on the development of projects, design, and implementation
    •Lead evaluation, development and roll out of new features and use cases in the Cyber Security DataLake
    •Drive initiatives to make components scale as usage increases
    •Conduct and participate in code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning
    •Implement unit,functional and performance tests
    •Mentor and support the development of other team members



Qualifications:

You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •5+ years of experience in object-oriented language, i.e. Java, Scala, Python, Ruby, etc. •Experience using big data stack such as Kafka, Spark/Storm/Beam •Experience in developing and tuning highly scalable systems •Experience with SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL/Hive) and NoSQL technologies (MongoDB/HBase/Elastic Cache/Redis) •Experience with building and deploying big data pipelines and serverless architecture on cloud (Aws/GCP/Azure) using tools such as Terraform/Spinnaker/Ansible •Experience with Open Source •In-depth understanding of multithreading, garbage collection and memory management •Exposure to cluster orchestration tools such as Kubernetes/Apache YARN/Mesos and container runtimes such as Docker •Bachelor degree in Electrical/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/STEM degree
Great-to-haves
    •Experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning and Data Processing libraries and frameworks such as Pytorch, Scikit, Pandas, Numpy, Spark MLib, TensorFlow, Keras •Experience working with Ingestion/Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools such as NiFi/Pentaho •In possession of OR be able to obtain and maintain Secret Level clearance
