The Safety team is passionate about creating a better workplace for team members by prevention of accidents and injuries at work. We take great pride in our mastery of health and safety, including legislative, regulatory and voluntary standards. With our business acumen and leadership skills we help keep team members safe by proactively partnering with the business to effectively identify, evaluate and control workplace hazards. It is the vision of the Safety team to build a future friendly safety culture where team members not only comply with legal requirements, but also have a positive and proactive safety mindset.

As a strong communicator and persuasive leader who is committed to the protection of team members, the Senior Safety Consultant will lead TELUS Health in the development, implementation, monitoring, reporting and updating of its health and safety management system (including but not limited to development of policy and procedure, training and program as well as auditing) in order to prevent workplace accidents and injuries, therefore adding value to the business, workplace and employees' lives.

Here's how
    •Perform job hazard analysis
    •Develop, align and update H&S policies, standards and procedures
    •Develop and maintain H&S training
    •Work with frontline operations leaders to ensure compliance
    •Assist with the investigation of workplace incidents
    •Conduct inspections and/or audits
    •Establish and maintain workplace committees
    •Maintain and manage the H&S record keeping
    •Submit monthly health and safety performance reports


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Thorough understanding of the provincial H&S regulations •Knowledge of the communications and/or healthcare industry, including industry standards and safety requirements •Good understanding of principles of hazard identification, evaluation, prioritization and controls •General understanding of management practices, leadership characteristics, and interpersonal communications •Excellent computer skills including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence •Strategic planning skills and ability to align your work with company priorities •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Advanced conflict resolution and negotiation skills •Advanced change management skill •Intermediate level project management skills to develop and implement new programs •Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a team setting and work independently or with minimal supervision •Willingness to travel and conduct field activities •Capable of working in a self-directed manner •Excellent computer skills including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

    •University degree (or equivalent experience and relevant certifications) •Completion of an OH&S certificate program or equivalent related experience •Holds CRSP professional designation or working towards, or holds other professional designation

Required Experience:
    •Proven leadership experience in a managerial role •A minimum of 3 year experience in the communications and/or healthcare industry
