Each day, you walk into work ready to learn, grow and innovate. You will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative support for Payroll & Accounting related processes on behalf of a public sector hospital client in Ontario (ON) with over 2,700 employees.

•Responds to employee inquiries regarding their pay including taxes, deductions, vacation
•Completes payroll related transactions and auditing on PeopleSoft each bi-weekly pay cycle, ensuring data integrity and timeliness; this includes garnishments/family support deductions, ad-hoc payments, loans, union dues, benefit deductions and statutory holiday entitlements; completes all biweekly, monthly and annual remittances for third party vendors and government organizations
•Administers the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) to employees enrolled in the plan, including auditing and notifying employees of contributions owing while on leave of absence
•Completes monthly and annual reconciliation of HOOPP contributions for all employees
•Completes annual reconciliations of Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), Employer Health Tax (EHT), Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance (EI), Taxes etc
•Prepares and submits file to financial institution to deduct premiums for benefit payments from employee's bank accounts on a monthly basis
•Reconciliation of premiums deducted for retirees and employees on leave, including notification of non-sufficient funds (NSF) payments to employees; providing employee's earnings information to Service Canada, WSIB and Long Term Disability (LTD) carriers
•Coordination, review, and approval of preliminary and production T4 & T4A reports, ensuring that all earnings and deductions codes are reported on T4s & T4As, are accurate and balance to payroll registers
•Completes the Pensionable & Insurable Earnings Reports (PIER) from Canada Revenue Agency
•Back up for processing on-cycle and off-cycle pays Qualifications:Required Knowledge:
•Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Excel
•Strong knowledge of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
•Strong knowledge of public sector hospital payroll policies, processes & procedures Required Skills & Abilities:
•Attention to detail
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Strong technical and analytical skills to assist in issue identification and resolution
•Detail oriented and ability to work to tight timelines
•Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task Required Professional Designation/Certification:
•Successful completion of Canadian Payroll Association certification preferred.
•2 year Community College diploma in Accounting or a related field of study Required Experience:
•2-3 years of experience in payroll & payroll accounting roles
•Experience working with a public sector hospital
•Experience with administration of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
•Previous experience with People Soft, including data entry, building queries/reports, table set-ups etc Who is TELUS?
