Provides advice and counsel on organization design and organization effectiveness opportunities primarily for the senior leader / executive population to execute on the HR and business/group strategies. Completes specific strategic / operational work to deliver business results and/or minimize risk. Manages Senior Leader Job Design and Evaluation with a focus on increased organizational effectiveness, providing clarity about roles, accountabilities, authority to make decisions, and collaboration required to offer a differentiated customer experience and drive BMO's growth agenda

Responsibilities Include:


  • Provides strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.

  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the enterprise.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.

  • Develops organization effectiveness solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.

  • Provides advice and guidance on implementation of wide range of organization solutions; includes organization efficiency (e.g., number of layers, span of control, compression) and organization effectiveness (e.g., role clarity, accountabilities, decision making authority & collaboration) and organization development.

  • Acts as the subject matter expert on organization design solutions and provides advisory support to HR Business Partners to support achieving business outcomes

  • Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives.

  • Manages Job design and documentation of Senior Leadership jobs

  • Completes enterprise-wide executive and managing director evaluations based on Korn Ferry Hay methodology

  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.

  • Works with Job & Position Management to ensure senior leader information is up to date and accurate.

  • Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.

  • Develops the business case by identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.

  • Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements and develops roadmap for strategic execution.

  • Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.

  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

  • Provide historical data, analysis and insights on role relativity internally and externally.

  • Collaborates across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, in order to positively influence or change behaviour.

  • Assists in building change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.

  • Provides thoughtful and effective coaching to senior leaders to maximize skills/capabilities of the group and creates an environment of high performance and openness.

  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.

  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation and management of core business/group processes.

  • Develops and manages a business/group program.

  • Reviews the program for effectiveness, considers industry trends and recommends enhancements; makes changes as required.

  • Supports the design, development, and implementation of tools and training required to deliver business results.

  • Conducts independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.

  • Provides insights on organization health & executive portfolio health and addresses any issues.

  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.

  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Supports development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Networks with industry contacts to gather and identify competitive insights and best practices.

  • Enhances subject matter expertise and keeps abreast of organization design trends by reading journals and articles, and assisting in the research, assessment and BMO-customization of internal and external information relevant to the theory and practice of organization design.

  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.

  • Implements changes in response to shifting trends.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.


Qualifications:


  • Typically, 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • In-depth/Expert knowledge of organization design/organization development principles, process and methodology.

  • Experience in Korn Ferry Hay (preferred) or other Job Evaluation methodology

  • Research skills - In-depth/Expert.

  • Design thinking - In-depth/Expert.

  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills - In-depth / Expert.
