Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Wealth Management in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
Operational Risk
• Leads compliance to Scotiabank's Operational Risk Management Framework for all WM businesses
• Leads the development, implementation and documentation an overall operational risk framework for WM business lines. Works closely with WM businesses to proactively identity, assess, mitigate and monitor operational risks while providing key oversight functions including:
  • Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSAs)
  • Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
  • New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA)
  • Operational loss reporting
  • Scenario analysis etc.
Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM)
• Leads compliance to Scotiabank's Third-Party Risk Management Policy for WM business lines
• Work closely with WM business lines to proactively identity, assess, mitigate and monitor outsourcing risks while providing key oversight functions and program assurance
• Assist in the implementation of the TPRM program for WM
• Participate in the TRPM re-design and project implementation organized by Scotiabank
FATCA/CRS/QI
• Providing advice and counsel to the relevant business units
• Assisting Regulatory Operations and Controls in monitoring applicable regulations as required and ensuring timely compliance with new regulations
• Supporting in the development and implementation of FATCA/CRS/QI Operating Procedures, governance and oversight model
• Facilitating remediation and resolution for any identified gaps with the business and implementing applicable controls
Operational Resilience
• Assessing and determining critical business services, current resilience capabilities, dependencies and maturity levels and constraints
• Creating scenarios to evaluate which services are at risk and developing mitigation plans
• Adhering to the Enterprise Operational Resilience program by developing GWM internal controls governance model
Fraud Risk Program
• Leads the program for WM to be compliant with Scotiabank's Enterprise Fraud Risk Program
• Responsible for Business Line Fraud KRI reporting
• Conducting Op Risk RCSA & Scenario Analysis incorporating fraud risks
• Facilitating NIRA fraud assessments
• Reporting Op Risk Events (OREs) and escalations for fraud events to management
Data Risk Management
• Providing support to the Data Office to ensure compliance with the Scotiabank's Enterprise Data Risk Management program for WM businesses
• Conducting gap assessments and remediations as required
• Providing oversight on data risk in partnership with the Data Office
Leads the implementation of on-going and new regulatory programs
• Initiates, manages and delivers projects by working independently or within cross-functional teams and/or WM businesses with the implementation regulatory programs and/or controls
• Develops proposals and business cases (where required)
• Establishes milestones and assess work effort
• Coordinates and implements (where required) project plans and track progress
• Creates project templates to create required documentation and reporting
• Preparation of executive and board reports materials including analysis and written summaries
Maintain regulatory awareness
• Maintains current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
• Advises business units on topical and emerging regulatory changes
• Responds to questions about regulatory matters
• The Senior Manager will participate in other undertakings as requirement including projects arising from regulatory initiatives, identifying compliance training needs and communicating findings and implementing corrective actions
• Leads other projects and activities as required
• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
