The mandate of this role is to manage business strategies, plans and initiatives for Canadian Retail Deposits & Investment portfolio. The Senior Manager, Portfolio Management & Strategic Projects is responsible for managing the end-to-end project management, leading the analysis, documentation of requirements, development of business case and execution/delivery of key strategic initiatives.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Support the overall project management of strategic investments projects for Retail Deposits by managing the end-to-end process from documentation of business requirements, conducting data analysis, and development of business case to project delivery in collaboration with partners
  • Lead the post-implementation analysis and tracking of key initiatives, monitoring the results to measure success against projects KPIs
  • Be a key contributor in various business planning activities which require collaboration with cross-functional teams/partners, and working with executives of the Retail Deposits leadership team
  • Play a leading role in key portfolio performance routines including monthly results, forecasting, quarterly results and annual planning in collaboration with CB Finance
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate portfolio trends and provide an ongoing insight on KPIs which are important for Retail Deposits to achieve its annual portfolio growth targets
  • Manage the rate pass-through strategy with changes in Bank of Canada rates
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risks

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in commerce/business, economics, finance or analytics; MBA/CFA would be considered an asset
  • Several years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience in product P&L management, Finance and/or Business Analytics
  • Strong analytical and MIS background
  • Solid project management skills to prioritize, manage and implement competing initiatives
  • Excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and SQL
  • Experience in pricing, direct experience on deposit would be considered an asset
