The Team
The Data Management Value Stream within Global Wealth Engineering is responsible for Data Architecture, Quality, Governance and Availability. It serves the customers of all Wealth business lines, including iTrade, Scotia Mcleod, Private Investment Council and Scotia Trust. The team is known for excellence in delivery, and its management fosters a culture of team self organization, collaboration, and inclusiveness. The Role
Reporting to the Director/Data Management/Global Wealth Engineering, the Senior Manager will be the technology owner responsible for the development, stability, and support of the AS400 and ETL data hub platforms. They will energize and lead a team of support leads, developers and business analysts who work in an Agile environment to deliver data transformations related to key business initiatives. The incumbent will build strong relationships with business and technology partners, with emphasis on strong stakeholder management through regular progress reporting.
  • Build, mentor and manage high performance application teams to develop and support 7x24 data hub platforms
  • Lead the implementation of critical Wealth data transformation projects
  • Promote and implement best practices in the area of application resiliency and stability (e.g. Operational runbooks, software currency, non-functional testing, continuous and iterative tuning, capacity management, trend analysis, proactive monitoring, vendor management)
  • Establish and nurture key partner relationships through regular (formal and informal) outreach and communication
  • Understand and encourage a continuous improvement team culture

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • Demonstrated track record in building, managing, and motivating high-energy application development and support teams
  • Experience with data architecture, data governance, and data modeling principles
  • Preferred: experience in developing and maintaining modern ETL platforms (i.e. Spark, Datastage, Talend, etc. Some knowledge with the AS400 platform would also be considered an asset)
  • Experience with implementation of production support best practices and related tools
  • Demonstrated track record of building and nurturing client and partner relationships
  • Good conceptual and working knowledge of information security and application infrastructure (e.g. networking, databases, information security, operating systems)
  • High degree of knowledge in release management, software development lifecycle and software development methodologies
  • Ability to react quickly should production issues occur, and manage production incidents effectively
  • Previous exposure in the financial brokerage industry is preferred
