Defines and administers data base organization, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation. Provides experienced technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a data base environment. Advises applications development staff and users on data-based solutions to business problems, data architectures, data base management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of data bases. Ensures economic and efficient availability of data within adequate safeguards. Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of database management. Job Description
1: Under general direction, designs, implements and maintains complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, and integration of systems through database design.
2: Provides operational support to the production data base environment including building, scheduling, and monitoring the necessary support jobs and resolving data base problems and user problems.
3: Provides support, as necessary, to the test data base environment.
4: Provides support and technical consulting in data base definition, design, and implementation for applications system projects. Researches and determines the use of new data base tools and becomes expert in their use. May provide technical training.
5:Meet with user staff to understand business requirements and to determine data requirements and specifications for a systems project within a general business applications area. Develops logical data models from business requirements.
6: Transforms logical data models into physical data base structures and defines the access paths required to access those structures.
7: Analyzes information requirements of new or modified systems and develops data base specifications for data base construction and maintenance. Codes, tests, and documents definitions and access to the data base.
8: Typical projects include meeting with an applications project team to consult in the development of a data base project, reorganizing data bases when necessary, monitoring and analyzing data base performance and usage patterns, evaluating and making recommendations for the selection of data base tools and software, developing and documenting standards for the use, control, updating, and maintenance of data bases.
9: Establishes and enforces controls to ensure data base integrity.
10: Work as part of a team and provide 7×24 support when required.Requirements
1: Experience equivalent to graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with emphasis in database administration.
2: Thorough knowledge of MongoDB and ORACLE relational database system, with the ability to focus on business line objectives
3: Must possess strong applications knowledge of database systems and programming techniques.
4: Additional knowledge required includes expert knowledge of the applications area(s) and knowledge of database management systems.
5: High level of technical skill and experience in data base administration and design.
6: Equivalent experience includes 4+ years as a systems designer and programmer, database designer with some supervisory experience.
