Department Overview

TD Insurance (TDI) Finance team is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information, and management support on a segment-wide basis for TDI, consistent with TD's enterprise risk appetite. This includes providing a wide range of analysis and decision support relating to the informational needs of the.

The team plays an important strategic role for TDI, ensuring that the right metrics are developed and communicated to the businesses amid continuously evolving market environment and regulatory requirements.

Job Description:

The Senior Group Manager, Finance, TDI reports to the Vice President, TDI Finance and works with a talented and diverse team of professionals to provide insightful analysis and advice, management reporting and recommendations for all lines of business within TDI.

The role requires a skillset that can manage key reporting, forecasting, and planning processes while also focusing on details in a high-pressure environment. Critical to the role is also having the ability to step back and take a leadership role in providing proactive analysis, advice, and insight on a range of business and financial issues impacting TD Securities Finance .

Key responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the Finance team that provides consolidated financial reporting and advice to the SVP Distribution, including monthly/quarterly reporting, forecasting & planning, and ad-hoc analysis
  • Engage with the Personal Bank around key Journeys to deliver customer-oriented deliverables. Partner from a Finance standpoint to help Journey leads and provide Finance expertise w orking with key business partners in the Business Bank to provide value-added insight on business performance, competitive intelligence and opportunities to the TDS Senior Management Team
  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with key business partners and other stakeholders across TDS business and product teams, Finance, HR, and Project Delivery
  • Working with other leaders in Distribution and across Finance to innovate, explore and develop new tools, capabilities, and functionality to identify efficiencies and enhance effectiveness in financial and business performance reporting
  • Build for the future by attracting, motivating, and retaining a highly qualified team
  • Promoting a positive work environment encourages teamwork, productivity, innovation, creativity, analysis, and advice.

Job Requirements:

This position requires excellent management skills in finance and reporting, strong business acumen and a willingness to embrace and lead change. The successful candidate must be an individual who is able to work with minimal supervision, contribute to positive work, colleague and team experience and manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (BA preferred).
  • CPA/CA/CFA designation would be an asset
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in the insurance industry
  • Proven track record in a strategy development role within an insurance group - ideally with exposure to underwriting, pricing, or capital management.
  • Experience in implementing or managing under IFRS 17 or Solvency II frameworks.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities - ability to consolidate a large amount of information into clear, concise analysis to support and drive critical business decisions
  • Work effectively with senior executives
  • Highly motivated, proactive self-starter with strong time management aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to be flexible amongst competing priorities and timelines
  • Strong organizational awareness and the ability to balance the viewpoints of Finance and the Business Bank
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to build strong business relationships with stakeholders across various functions
  • Superior ability to influence and motivate others, including those who do not have a direct reporting relationship
  • Ability to negotiate, problem solve and make decisions
