Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 - $179,100
MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $122,100 - $162,200

You will join our Toronto office as a Senior Engineer, Track and Civil, playing a hands-on role in advancing rail infrastructure through thoughtful design, collaboration, and technical leadership.
Your Impact
- Take a proactive, hands-on role in the delivery of track design projects across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design stages.
- Lead and manage the full track design process, ensuring technical excellence and consistency across project phases.
- Develop ballasted and non-ballasted track structures, horizontal and vertical alignment, profiles, and associated grading.
- Conduct rail vehicle and infrastructure clearance assessments to ensure system compatibility and safety.
- Perform peer review of track designs, analyses, and reports prior to client submission.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to maintain coordinated, high-quality project outputs.
- Prepare technical deliverables including design briefs, engineering analyses, calculations, specifications, and tender documents.
- Determine quantities, develop cost estimates, and support construction documentation.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and oversight to junior designers and engineers.
- Support Project Managers in developing design schedules, scopes, and budgets.
- Participate in proposal development, bids, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Engage with clients and transportation agencies regularly to support design coordination and project delivery.
- Participate in field audits and inspections, including pre-design condition assessments, periodic trackwork inspections, and track in-service inspections, as required.
- Uphold WSP Quality Management, Safety, and Environmental policies on all assignments.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- 10+ years of experience in railway track engineering, including complex multidisciplinary rail transit or Class 1 railway projects.
- Deep technical knowledge of Class 1 mainline, yard, industrial track, intermodal, transload, special trackwork, ballasted/non-ballasted track, drainage, and grading requirements.
- Experience supporting commuter rail and light rail transit (LRT) projects.
- Ability to supervise junior staff, manage workflows, and oversee technical production.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage deadlines, anticipate challenges, and identify scope or change-order considerations.
- Experience in track construction supervision and trackwork inspection.
- Exposure to P3 infrastructure projects is an asset.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong working knowledge of AREMA, Class 1 railway standards, and LRT design and construction requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and P.Eng. in Ontario (or eligibility for licensure).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
