Lead the systems that power Canada's most complex transportation and building environments.
WSP's Property & Buildings - M&E Transportation team is growing, and this role plays a key part in shaping the electrical systems behind some of the country's most technically advanced rail, transit, aviation, and building infrastructure projects. Based in Thornhill, Ontario, you will operate within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that values technical excellence, leadership, and innovation.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical direction, independent decision-making, and mentorship while delivering high-impact projects for clients such as GO Metrolinx, TTC, YRT, CN, CP, and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). This role offers the opportunity to influence outcomes across the full project lifecycle while contributing to one of Canada's most respected transportation and buildings practices.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 - $151,800
MB & ON: $104,500 - $143,900
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $103,500 - $137,400

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical direction, independent decision-making, and mentorship while delivering high-impact projects for clients such as GO Metrolinx, TTC, YRT, CN, CP, and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). This role offers the opportunity to influence outcomes across the full project lifecycle while contributing to one of Canada's most respected transportation and buildings practices.
Your Impact
- Lead the design, review, and delivery of complex electrical systems for transportation and building infrastructure, including power distribution, fire alarm, grounding and bonding, lightning protection, emergency power (generators and UPS), interior and exterior lighting, and lighting control systems.
- Provide technical authority on projects, preparing and reviewing electrical calculations, conceptual and detailed designs, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Review and seal electrical, lighting, and lighting control designs for permit and construction in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Oversee and support tendering, post-tender, and construction administration activities, including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, site reviews, and deficiency resolution.
- Coordinate electrical designs across mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, technology, signalling, lighting, and construction management disciplines.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and EITs, providing technical direction, quality oversight, and professional development support.
- Lead small to medium-sized projects as a senior design engineer and, where appropriate, as a project manager, managing scope, schedule, budget, and resourcing.
- Support project financial performance through forecasting, progress tracking, and resourcing coordination.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Ontario.
- 7+ years of Canadian experience delivering electrical designs for transportation, building, commercial, or industrial projects.
- Advanced working knowledge of OBC, OESC, CEC, CSA, NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE, and IESNA standards.
- Proven experience completing load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, lighting, and grounding studies.
- Strong familiarity with transportation authority standards, including GO Metrolinx DRM/DMCA and TTC design manuals and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while leading within a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, ACC, Navisworks, MicroStation, and Bluebeam in a digital project delivery setting.
- Exposure to proposal development, fee estimation, and project financial management is considered an asset.
