What is the opportunity?

The DNA (Data & Analytics) group is responsible for enabling and implementing RBC's Data Vision. We build data-driven services and platforms aimed to serve our vision of making every single client interaction informed by A.I. within the next three years. We work with petabytes of data. Above all, our work has a direct impact in the way we interact with our consumers. Currently, we are looking for senior developers to build an enterprise data analytics platform to enable data-driven insights and agile analytics for the data practitioners at RBC.

What will you do?

  • Assist Product Management and development team in definition of work (stories, tasks)
  • Take full ownership of work outcomes including design and implementation of API/microservices and backend components of analytics platform on cloud and on-prem
  • Support and contributes to DevOps pipeline when/where necessary
  • Integrate vendor products and RBC internal systems to provide seamless user experience
  • Evaluate new technologies/products and perform PoC/PoT
  • Contribute to quality system (framework), with a strong commitment to leading with quality
  • Participate in code reviews for the engineers on your team, ensuring our delivery of clean, well-tested, and performant software

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years of experience in developing scalable, configurable applications using Scala/Python/Java and application frameworks (e.g. Spring)
  • 2+ years of experience in building applications on public/private/hybrid cloud and delivering SaaS
  • Experience in building low-latency, high-availability, and performant micro-services
  • Experience leveraging big data technologies (Hadoop and related technologies) to build data products and services
  • Knowledge of relevant security considerations for applications on cloud
  • Strong communication skills.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics

  • Experience with cloud analytics ecosystem
  • Understanding of data analytics lifecycle and user persona
  • Experience with building self-service analytics solutions/platform that enables agile analytics for data practitioners with varying levels of technical competency
  • Knowledge of Identity Access Management and Security best practices
