Our Cyber Security practice is growing and we are increasing our capability in Ottawa and across Regions East (Ontario & Nova Scotia). We are currently seeking a talented individual at the Senior Consultant level with a passion for Cyber Security to join KPMG's dynamic and thriving Cyber Security Practice in Ottawa.

What you will do
This role entails engaging in a diverse range of cybersecurity client projects, involving strategy, governance, transformation, defense, and response. Responsibilities may include:
  • Conducting cyber maturity and gap assessments against industry and government standards such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ITSG-33, and/or CIS Critical Security Controls.
  • Contributing to the development and evaluation of cyber policies, practices, and governance frameworks.
  • Assisting in the deployment of cyber transformation initiatives, including identity and access management implementations.
  • Assisting in the research and design of tabletop exercises, helping clients to simulate and prepare for cyber incidents.
  • Working on multiple client engagements concurrently, adapting to varying sizes, scopes, and complexities.
  • Delivering high-quality service, conducting research, and communicating effectively with clients and internal resources.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Staying updated on emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices, continuously enhancing technical knowledge and skills.
What you bring to the role
A successful candidate will possess the following skills and behaviors:
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
    • Security strategy & Governance
    • Cloud Security
    • Security Risk Management
    • Government of Canada Security Assessment & Authorization (SA&As)
    • Security transformation
    • Post-breach investigations or assessments
    • Tabletop Exercises
  • A bachelor's degree in business, computer science or relevant degree subject is an asset but not required, as we welcome people from all educational backgrounds if you have a passion for cybersecurity and/or technology.
  • Preferably at least 2 years delivering cyber security and/or information technology (IT) related services, either in an internal- or external-facing role, including post-graduate experience.
  • Interest in completing one of or a combination of the following designations; SSCP, CISM, or CISSP
  • Interest in acquiring cloud certifications, including but not limited to Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • A good understanding of various IT infrastructure systems and components (i.e. servers, firewalls, network, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in the evaluation of security controls in different IT environments (e.g. on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments), including an understanding of the various underlying IT infrastructure systems and components (e.g. servers, firewalls, network, etc.)
  • Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills being able to express insights, both written and orally.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization, time management and analytical skills.
  • High degree of enthusiasm and drive.
  • Ideally Ottawa-based, but open to all applicants residing within Eastern Canada and Southwestern Ontario
  • Ability to obtain (or already hold) a Government of Canada security clearance
