Hours: Continental Days - 0600-1800

Pay Rate: $21.03/hr

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Site Description: Shops at Don Mills is located at Don Mills and Lawrence Avenue East in Toronto, Ontario. With 72 stores, this is a lifestyle shopping center. Anchored around fashion, dining and entertainment, Shops at Don Mills makes shopping a delight. Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents. You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents, as well as respond to emergencies in a quick and efficient manner.

Job Description:
• Assist the Site Supervisor with daily operations, reporting, and overall site activities
• Lead and support a team of 2-6 guards, demonstrating strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Enforce property rules, access control procedures, and compliance with applicable laws and standards using tact and professionalism
• Conduct regular patrols (on foot and by vehicle) and monitor CCTV systems to maintain safety and security
• Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, providing first aid, CPR, or AED support until authorities arrive
• De-escalate conflicts, manage trespassers and unauthorized persons, and assist emergency and law enforcement personnel
• Maintain detailed memo books and prepare incident and occurrence reports using standard reporting systems
• Provide customer service, line management, and general assistance as required, working indoors and outdoors in changing environments
Qualifications:
• Must be willing and able to stand, walk, patrol by foot and vehicle for extended periods (8-12 hours)
• Must demonstrated a high degree of professionalism
• Must have 1 year of leadership/ supervisory experience or equivalent
• Must have at least 2 years of mall security or relevant experience
• Must be willing and able to provide a recent and valid vulnerable sector check, criminal background check, and driver's abstract as required.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.
• Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress
• Must be conformable working in a busy highly populated area
• Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
