Site Overview: In 2020, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton (SJHH) opened the Satellite Health Facility (SHF), a temporary facility in downtown Hamilton to increase local healthcare capacity in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Located at 150 King St. E. in Effort Square, the space allows HHS and SJHH teams to support patients who are waiting for alternate care arrangements in the community, while reserving in-hospital space for those with the most urgent medical needs. The SHF is staffed by interprofessional clinical teams as well as primary care physicians.

Position: Part-Time Security Guard
Site: St. Joseph Healthcare - Alternate Healthcare Facility
Hours: Saturday & Sunday (1900-0700 hrs)
Payrate: $19.66/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Job Description:
• Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.
• Display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance.
• In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Perform a variety of preventative and reactive duties to include, but not limited to interior and exterior patrols.
• Provide security escort service to staff and visitors as requested.
• Accountable for keeping accurate logs and notebook entries of all shift activity and calls for service.
• Accountable to write accurate reports upon investigations or reportable occurrences in timely manner upon completion of occurrence.
• Investigate and follow-up of incidents, report writing, door opening requests, CCTV camera reviews.
• Security Guards shall warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
• Responsible for all office duties (i.e. ID badges, key distribution, lost and found etc.)
• Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Must have one year experience in healthcare security, or law enforcement
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
• Ability to walk/climb stairs throughout the premises for longer periods of time
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
