This is a hybrid role, working out of Scarbourgh office, reporting into the Director of Quality Engineering. We're seeking a Intermediate QE Engineer to join our Automation and Agile team. The ideal candidate is passionate about software testing, has strong automation skills, and thrives in a collaborative environment offering exciting technical learning opportunities and challenges.

Ensures the quality of the products that technology delivers, working closely with all applications, common services/middleware, and infrastructure teams throughout the development/engineering lifecycle. Designs, develops, executes, and maintains test plans of infrastructure, common services/middleware, data, and applications in various environments. Records and documents testing results (including anomalies and issues) and compares them to expected results. Detects solution failures so that defects may be discovered and corrected. Generates historical analysis of test results and maintains a list/repository of defects.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Selenium, API or AI automated testing tools.
  • Execute and analyze automated and manual tests across web applications or ETL/data migration projects.
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers in an Agile environment.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs through resolution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QE processes and methodologies.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Monitors and tracks performance and addresses any issues.
  • Leads and implements core initiatives with complete test strategies.
  • Able to develop test automation suites, design frameworks, and define standards.
  • Oversees several test projects simultaneously and provides scheduling support to operations.
  • Designs, develops, executes, and maintains testing strategies and plans to ensure stability and efficiency, enabling a seamless customer experience.
  • Executes and verifies test scripts as part of the overall functional testing of Information Technology products as well as reporting defects and test results to the stakeholders.
  • Recommends approaches to streamline and integrate technological processes and systems in the organization to improve overall efficiency and improve the bank.
  • Communicates the overall quality of a deliverable and ensures metrics are used to drive delivery and identify any areas of concern.
  • Ensures development teams' unit testing practices are in place and confirms core criteria met prior to integrated testing delivery.
  • Drives the testing automation capabilities.

Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of work experience in IT and/or B.S./B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems, or math.
  • Extensive experience with test automation tools including Selenium, Apache, and Cucumber.
  • Experience with DB2 databases and writing complex SQL queries.
  • Expertise in building Automation frameworks of Desktop/Web-based software's (Selenium, UFT, etc.) with the ability to code and debug scripts.
  • Expertise in building API automation framework, Web Services testing using SOAP, Postman or Ready API.
  • Proficiency in setting up Continuous build integration of automated testing into a CI/CD framework (Bitbucket/Jenkins).
  • Strong background in automation using object-oriented programming language (C# and/or Java).
  • Strong programming skills in Java
  • Strong with API testing methodologies and tools
  • Thorough understanding of software QE methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to various stakeholders
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Able to analyze data and use testing metrics to highlight improvement opportunities.

The salary range provided reflects BMO Financial group's compensation range for the grade band associated with this position.

Salary placement within the range outlined above is role-based and will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set consistent, and competitive ranges. We regularly evaluate compensation, identify any changes in the market and adjust our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
