Job Description & Summary

A career in Firm Strategy and Communications, within Internal Firm Services, will provide you with the opportunity to establish effective communication programmes that enhance PwC's vision, strategy, values, and purpose. You'll focus on designing communication initiatives that aid in implementing new policies and programmes and that will enhance the organisation's relations with the community, public, government, shareholders, and employees.

Our Internal Communications team creates and implements the most effective communication strategies and tactics that drives PwC's strategy and aligns its vision and purpose. As part of the team, you'll create high quality and high impact communications that engage our partners and people and enhance the PwC's culture and brand.

What you'll create and do

As a Senior Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:

  Strategic public relations planning and campaign execution ( 60%)  
  • Develop national PR plans based for market-facing campaigns, in consultation with members of the Communications team, which aligns with the Firm's key themes, campaigns and thought leadership
  • Provide innovative and impactful communications tactics and activities for delivery across multiple external audiences, via appropriate digital channels and platforms.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice to effectively manage the communication needs of regional and national stakeholders
  • Research opportunities to build regional and national leader profiles and position appropriately regarding relevant areas of focus and the Firm's overall brand and key marketplace themes


  • Reputation and issues management (risk) ( 10%)
  • Work closely with national director communications on any reputational or issues management. Involves working with the legal counsel team, risk management and Canadian Leadership Team (CLT) 
  • Advise the Firm on PR protocol, key messages, and spokespeople


  • Liaising with Communications and Marketing and Sales teams ( 20%)
  • Provide counsel, coaching, advice and support to regional and national leaders, as aligned to Firm's brand, positioning, strategy and priorities


  • Management, media monitoring, reporting media training (10%)
  • Manager vendor relationships (media monitoring, media agency, etc.)
  • Create media monitoring reports for national campaigns, big four cities, and Canadian Leadership Team (CLT) and Extended Leadership Team (ELT)  
  • Establish and build relationships with national and regional media contacts to enable coverage of campaigns and external leadership profiles, in conjunction with the Manager, Public Relations


  • What you'll bring to this role


  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work
  • 7+ years of direct media relations experience. Preference given towards those who possess communications and/or media relations experience in professional services firms, large corporations, or consulting firms/agencies managing large-firm clients
  • Degree in media relations, communications, journalism or a related field
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated strategic media planning and implementation
  • Highly skilled at writing, editing articles, media monitoring and reporting skills
  • S trong ability to develop a strategic PR approach to align to firm priorities with marketing and communications plans
  • Exceptional understanding of best practice media relations approaches, vehicles, strategies and tactics
  • Familiar with the integration of social media into PR campaigns
  • Experience in analyzing and meeting client needs and client service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and public relations skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make decisions under minimal supervision
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong project management, organizational and research skills
  • Ability to motivate, coach and inspire top performance among team with the capability to resolve conflict within or between teams in an organization
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to execute under tight timelines, pressure and competing priorities with limited supervision
