Job Description:

The Product Owner I will ensure that a development team (pod) is creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments. This entails aligning with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers , continuously assess customer feedback. The Product Owner I should always be considering how to maximize value, assessing how the product or the delivery process can be continuously improved, contributes to a positive work environment and ensures that work embodies the Agile principles of transparency, collaboration and engagement.

The Finance and Risk Platform (FRP) project is an End-to-end solution, including a data repository in Oracle to standardize how we use our data to support our Finance and Risk processes by improving quality and availability of reconciled data. FRP will transform the way TD operates the Finance and Risk organizations with a data-led approach which will drive new and improved capabilities for the organization.

The FRP project will provide an end-to-end solution that enables the Bank to meet the regulatory and business needs faster and more effectively. This project will take place over a multi-year roadmap and impact all Finance and Risk daily, monthly and quarterly processing .

Reporting to the Product Group Owner, FRP, the Product Owner I will lead a team delivering on the strategic initiatives. This individual possesses a good understanding of financial applications, financial data flow and processes and will act as the conduit between various level s of business and technology. The incumbent must provide leadership, demonstrate proficient time management skills and also be results driven with an aptitude to learn quickly.

The role includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Represent Finance and Risk Platform (FRP) as a subject matter expert in the implementation of Oracle Accounting Hub and General Ledger, providing relevant and meaningful information, advice and guidance to Finance on a range of system and operational processes

  • Provide transformational business insight on the FRP, working in partnership with various teams to successfully deliver integrated implementations throughout multiple project releases to advance business capabilities, streamline process, and establish stronger controls.

  • Ensure program increment (PI) activities and milestones are completed within the timeframe and deliverables meet the business requirements

  • Develop key relationships by working closely with key business partners/stakeholders to drive business and technology solutions

  • Coordinate project-to-production activities with the application owner and Finance Production Support including process maps, security models, system operating procedures and service level agreements

  • Analyze current system/operational processes against future state processes, reconcile and explain gaps, identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, and report issues

  • Customer Centric Approach: Promote a customer-centric mindset within the platform, ensuring that all processes and outputs add value to internal and external stakeholders.

  • System Implementation: Lead the implementation and enhancement of financial data management systems and tools

  • Seek innovative solutions to remove redundancies

CUSTOMER

  • Partner with management to support the delivery of a product vision

  • In alignment with the product vision, create and maintain a product backlog and continuously re-prioritize user stories that will provide the most customer or end user value

  • Continuously align with senior management on the product delivery roadmap, defined Minimum Marketable Features or Minimum Viable Products and release cadence

  • Review performance analytics; recommend and champion strategies to enhance the customer or end user product experience

  • Participate in scrum or Kanban events ( e.g. stand-ups, retrospectives), express new ideas for improving product value or delivery efficiency, sharing with leadership as appropriate

SHAREHOLDER

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for own business area / journey

  • Ensure on-going strategic alignment with senior management, providing feedback as appropriate

  • Consider development team and stakeholder feedback in backlog management, facilitating conversations with multiple stakeholders representing competing priorities

  • Understand the internal business and technical environment, proactively defining, aligning or integrating with relevant stakeholders, shared services control groups (or platform as appropriate

  • Lead the submission and discussion on the Quarterly Business Review, with respect to their product

  • Proactively manage business stakeholders to obtain inputs needed for product development in a timely manner

EMPLOYEE / TEAM

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest

  • Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for own area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit

  • Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques

  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team

  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Key subject matter expert professional role requiring substantial knowledge / expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas

  • Accountable for specialized product development support based on sound product expertise and knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes, roles and practices

  • Integrate knowledge of the enterprise sub-function's or business line's overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations

  • Interpret internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or services

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or a related field; CPA preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, data management, or change delivery capacity

  • Proven experience in managing financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)

  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Analytics is an asset

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and standards (GAAP, IFRS).

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities .

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proven knowledge of MS Office particularly, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

  • Positive attitude and the ability to embrace change

  • Highly proactive, motivated, and dedicated individual with initiative to think strategically, and investigate and contribute to the resolution of issues with quick turnaround

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Experience in financial/management systems and participation in Project Management Life Cycle

  • Product Accounting Knowledge an asset

  • Agile mindset

  • 3+ years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience an asset

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset

  • Scaled Agile Framework ( SAFe ) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset
