Job Description

TD's API Management and Integration Team is looking for a Product Manager to help shape API Services at TD. Our mandate is to accelerate the design, development, deployment, and consumption of TD APIs by building solutions to both common and uncommon problems across the bank. The successful candidate will develop complete products by identifying needs, conduct market research, align capabilities, generate requirements, establish marketing strategies, end establish pricing and support models.

This role is responsible to ensure that a development team (pod) or multiple development teams (pods) are creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments. They should always be considering how to maximize value, assessing how the product or the delivery process can be continuously improved, contributes to a positive work environment and ensures that work embodies the Agile principles of transparency, collaboration, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Defining Product Vision
    • Communicating with Stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Creating and maintaining the product roadmap.
  • Backlog Management
    • Partner with senior management to support the delivery of a product vision, create and maintain a product backlog and continuously re-prioritize user stories that will provide the most customer or end user value.
    • Ordering the items in the Product Backlog to best achieve goals and missions.
    • Optimizing the value of the work the Development Team performs.
    • Ensuring that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the team will work on next.
    • Ensuring the Development Team understands items in the Product Backlog to the level needed.
  • Development Oversight
    • Reporting on status and progresses
    • Participate in scrum or Kanban events (e.g.stand-ups, retrospectives), express new ideas for improving product value or delivery efficiency, sharing with leadership as appropriate.
    • Proactively engage established business process partners to ensure customers or end users are prepared for application changes and establish Day 2 processes.
    • Actively coordinate and engage in risk, quality and/or business testing management.
  • Shareholder Engagement
    • Proactively manage business stakeholders to obtain inputs needed for product development in a timely manner
    • Define the OKRs in partnership with numerous stakeholders across the organization
    • Actively communicate to business, technology and senior management regarding product changes and backlog priorities
    • Consider development team and stakeholder feedback in backlog management, facilitating conversations with multiple stakeholders representing competing priorities.
    • Monitor the regulatory environment and partner with the senior management to consider changes to product strategy as needed.
  • Actively Explore Product Opportunities
    • Observe market trends and direction.
    • Engage stakeholders to discuss potential opportunities to drive new value.
  • Employee/Team

    • Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices.

    • Act as a brand ambassador for the business area / journey and the bank, both internally and / or externally.


Requirements

What can you bring to TD? Tell us about your most relevant experience, credentials and knowledge for this role, as well as these essential requirements and attributes:
  • Undergraduate degree and / or product certificate
  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • 3+ years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience in the API management domain.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset
